Jeongguk keeps his word. He arrives home at exactly 11pm.
Thankfully, he and Taehyung were able to actually study this time around. Seeing as it's already the last day of exams the next day, they've been incredibly productive. Taehyung kept his XBOX out of reach and Jeongguk turned his phone off for a better environment.
Toeing his shoes off, his eyes scan the small entry way before calling Lalisa's name loudly.
"Here," comes a voice from the living room.
Jeongguk pads over the living area and sees his roommate splayed out on the carpet like a starfish. Judging from the blank expression on her face and the depressing song playing from her phone, he already knows that something isn't okay.
Instead of questioning her, he silently goes to the fridge to retrieve a cookie dough Ben & Jerry's ice cream pint, along with two spoons and takes it to the living room.
He puts a little distance between them and lies down next to her, placing the ice cream in between. The song reaches the bridge and Jeongguk quietly mouths the lyrics until Lalisa speaks.
"Exams drain the life out of me."
He nods in understanding. He's been there before. "It's okay to feel that way," he murmurs, looking at the ceiling and tracing the corners with his eyes. "Tomorrow's the last day anyway, don't worry about it."
"I know," she sighs and grabs the pint. "I can't wait for this to end."
"Me either." The song changes to an EDM one, and he huffs. "Man, your music taste sucks."
Lalisa lets out a breathy chuckle. "I'm having my mental breakdown here, just let me be," she weakly protests.
"For your information, I'm your moral support, so I can't just let you be. I need to be here." She laughs at this. "Have you eaten?"
"Yeah. It was good."
"Good." There's no words needed to be said anymore, so they don't say anything else. Both of their presence were enough.
So they stay there, taking turns in scooping out ice cream while listening to IU's Palette. It isn't really much, but Jeongguk prefers the peace and Lalisa's quiet breathing. He thinks he can stay here forever.
