Chapter Six: Darryl, I love you so much, I'm so sorry.

Darryl's Pov:

Zak passes out in my arms, he looks so helpless and dead. "Zak! No no no you will be okay! I promise!" I shout with a crack in my voice.

"Vincent, come down quickly please! Zak passed out and he's not breathing!" I scream and break down into tears. I hear Vincent come down the stairs "Ugh, Darryl.. It's 2:30 in the morning what do you-" Vincent cuts off mid sentence with wide eyes. "What the f**k! Darryl what happened?!" Vincent screamed and ran towards Zak and I. "Vincent, I-I don't know, I couldn't sleep so I came down to get food and h- he was in the corner with b- blood by him so I tried to comfort him and hugged him and he coughed up blood and said he cou- couldn't breathe an- and-" I couldn't finish my sentence and broke down into more sobs.

"Hey Darryl, listen to me, everything will be okay, let's get him to the hospital and not panic, okay, do you hear me?" Vincent said to me with a French accent filled with sobs. I give him a quick nod of reassurance. I couldn't speak, I felt so powerless.

Vincent's Pov:

I quickly ran up stairs and shuffled around my room looking for my phone. Once I found my phone I quickly dial 911 with shaking hands.

20 minutes later.

Darryl and I are in the waiting room, they won't let us in to see Zak. I'm just sitting in a chair in the corner of the room with tears rolling down my cheek and Darryl is pacing around the room like a mad man, sobbing his heart out.

'I think it's time to tell Darryl what's really happening to Zak. Zak might not like that but I don't care anymore' I thought. "Uh Darryl.." I said with shakiness in my voice. Darryl whips his head around and looks me dead in the eyes and looks away quickly after.. 'God, his eyes look so dead' I thought to myself. "Uh, it's about Zak.." I say quietly. Darryl's attention is fully on me now. "So uh the reason Zak was coughing up blood and flowers was because of uh-" i said with a raspy voice. Not going to lie I was pretty scared to tell the man in front of me. "Spit it out." Darryl said coldly to me. That sends chills down my spine. "Zak has Hanahaki for you!" I blurt out a little too loud, which earned weird looks from the people around us. Darryl stares at me with a blank expression. Darryl drops to his knees and starts to sob. I pushed myself out of the chair I was sitting in and ran over to Darryl and embraced him into a hug. We sat in the middle of the hospital waiting room floor, hugging until Darryl broke the silence.

"H- he loves me.. And I was too blind to notice." Darryl said as he cried into my shoulder. I didn't know how to respond to that so I just sat there in silence. "This is all my fault, this is all my fault, THIS IS ALL MY FAULT!" Darryl screamed, grabbing the attention of all the people around us but I could care less right now. "Darryl, listen, this is not your fault, okay?" I say in a reassuring voice. Darryl doesn't reply and we sit in screaming silence.

Zak's Pov:

I wake up, but not in the arms of Darryl, I wake up in that dark room again. 'Well Zak, my fun is over' "What do you mean you fun is over..?" I say with a confused tone. 'Well Zak, you're going to die soon, the Hanahaki is too far into the last stage to be stopped' "What.. No! You're lying!" I say with a tear rolling down my face. 'I Wish I was Zaky, well goodbye for now' "Wait-" I scream but I woke up in a hospital room.

I sit up a bit and take a look around the white clean room. It made me sick to my stomach. The room slowly fills up with silence and I look down and see that my cuts are exposed. I started to panic which made my heart monitor go up.

A doctor runs into the room to see me panicking. "W- why are my cuts exposed!" I scream as my breath hitches. She gives a little smile "Zak, honey, its okay, we aren't going to hurt you" she said as she walks towards me and rubs circles on my back. I finally start to calm my breathing down and give a little smile.

"Zak, honey, is it ok if I let your friends into the room?" she asked me kindly. "Yeah.." I say in a whisper.

Darryl's Pov:

I saw a nurse walk into the waiting room and waved a hand at us for us to follow her. I instantly let go of Vincent and stood up and ran towards her. "Honey, you can go see zak now" she said with a smile. I gave her a smile back and ran past her into Zak's room.

I see Zak sitting up in his bed with a smile on his face. I ran over to him and hugged him and cried. "Zak! You're okay!" I scream a bit too loud for Zak's liking. "Darryl uh I think I should tell you this now I uh.." Zak says with a hesitated look. I just cock my head to the side and listen to what he has to say. "I have Hanahaki for you!" Zak said to me now crying. "Zak, it's okay.. I know" I say trying not to break down, seeing Zak in that state hurt me. "No, it's not okay! I'm going to die soon anyways! You can't stop the Hanahaki now, it's too far into the last stage!" Zak screamed. "Za- Zak, you're going to die..?" I say breaking down onto the floor. "I- I love you Darryl.." Zak said with his voice now calm and smiling at me.

"Zak, I love you too" I stood up from the ground and walked over to him and pulled him into a passionate kiss. I was going through so many emotions right now, I loved every moment of it. Zak soon melted into the kiss.

This kiss wasn't quick at all, it was long and passionate and I loved it, it was almost like a drug.

Zak and I pulled away from the kiss and Zak gave me the biggest grin eating smile. I loved seeing happy.

'Cough Cough'

Zak starts coughing up so much blood, a lot more than I ever saw. "Darryl! Get the doctor!" Zak says to me in his coughing fit. I run out of the room and start yelling for a doctor.

They all ran into Zak's room and wouldn't let me in.

15 minutes later.

"Darryl Noveschosch? Honey you can come see Zak now but he only has a few breaths left. I'm so sorry" She says in a sad tone to me. I start to sob but I would love to spend the rest of Zak's time with him. "Darryl," Zak said. "Yes Zak..?" I say through ruff sobs. "C- can you sing me a song..?" Zak asked, he looked almost too scared to ask. "Zak of course" I say now with a smile.
