CHAPTER ONE!

EVERYWHERE SHE WENT, PEOPLE STARED. Claudia Maple just had something about her, apart from the teen angst and hatred towards society's standards, and people always took notice of it. Especially at Camp Halfblood.
Claudia really didn't understand what made her so special. Was it the shampoo she used? She didn't have any cool light powers or special healing abilities. She was just her.... More or less. A semi-friendly teen demigod with a fiery passion for the arts and sunsets.
Despite the attention she usually gained, Claudia ignored it all. She ignored the wars, and the annoying competition that most campers faced. And even most of the time, her godly father who'd broken her mother's heart. Claudia just sat back and wrote music in forests.
In fact, that's exactly what she was doing when a pretty green eyed boy with jet black hair and a lopsided grin pulled her into a giant pit of darkness filled with monsters and madness.
The maze.
Surprisingly, though, Claudia wasn't mad. At least, not too much. Her father—Apollo—had always applauded her poetic ability. Actually, almost everyone at camp noticed how effortlessly she saw beauty in mayhem and disaster. Maybe that was her power. Effortless poetic ability.
It sure had to be something, because Claudia somehow found a way to romanticize falling into a giant ass maze with the hot shot son of Poseidon who made it his mission (on top of saving the world) to make her smile.
Spoiler alert: He succeeds at both.
Claudia Maple hates a lot of things. She hates liars, she hates when people yell, when people talk to her during her favorite songs, she hates top 40s listeners, and she hates the color lilac.
But damn, she just can't bring herself to hate him.
MARIA FERNANDA MAPLE DIDN'T CARE ABOUT THE LOOKS SHE GOT FROM THE OLDER MOTHERS WHO PASSED HER AND HER CHILD ON THE STREET. She didn't care about the fact that she'd had a child at 19 in the 1990s. She didn't even care about her parents disowning her when they found out.
All Maria cared about was her daughter, and the asshole who knocked her up who she unfortunately had fallen completely in love with.
It was supposed to be a casual thing. They had both promised their... situation would stay casual. That nothing bad would happen, and no one would fall in love. But, of course, with Maria's amazing luck, she ended up screwing it all up.
What she didn't know, though, was that the guy she'd hooked up with wasn't a normal guy. He was a god.
Apollo the asshole, who despite his cocky attitude, was actually really emotional. He was sweet, and funny, and he loved music just as much as her.
Apollo who took her out dancing, and to small art galleries.
Apollo who took Maria out to watch the stars, never the sunrise.
Maria shook her head at that. It was so obvious that he was the sun god. She cursed herself for falling in love and being blind to all the signs.
But as Maria held her tiny, rose-cheeked, giggling daughter in her arms, she realized that maybe she wasn't totally screwed.
Maria also began to realize how tough it would be to forget Apollo, when her daughter was his spitting image.
Maria could only pray that he had forgotten her. She prayed that he would never show up on her doorstep again. That his hauntingly beautiful misty blue eyes and golden skin wouldn't plague her dreams once more.
Because Maria Fernanda Maple knew that she would fall right back in love with the asshole god she could never actually be with.
"Curse you, Apollo."
And she knew the god was listening.
