Pause in Time

The cool evening breeze from the window of the bus, blew her hair softly. The sweet songs of the birds, the design of the buildings, the fancy cars, nice roads, great innovations, fair government which the people had a say in, freedom to express yourself, a society where you didn't need to acquire power to speak out or do the things you liked because you were born with such power. In total, a beautiful environment that had only appeared in her dreams. Humans were so lucky- but did they ever stop to see how lucky they were? She observed everybody around. The man sitting next to her was arguing vehemently with someone he was talking to on the phone. Sitting at her front, was a young good-looking couple, the man was looking at the window with a hard frown fixed on his face, the woman looked like she was ill, she had a running nose, red eyes, and a pale face-probably a cold. Or just the effect of snot. The running nose and red eyes signified a lot of tears had been streaming down those adorable chubby cheeks of hers. And the pale face definitely meant that she was sad. Behind her was a mother having a really difficult time with her twin babies who appeared to be louder than banshees. Outside, she could hear some motorist arguing and others honking, due to lack of patience. From her observations, she concluded that humans were totally oblivious to their luck, they hyped every issue, and were also huge ingrates.
The sun was down and all the vehicles had turned on their headlights. The road was busy, and the sidewalks were also busy with people walking hurriedly back to their various homes, a normal working day as-though it seemed. Only she was aware that as soon as the first stars appeared, freedom will be taken from humans.
She alighted from the bus and headed straight to a bar which was called The Last Point. She walked into the bar and was irritated to the core with the horrible odour and the hysterical laughter that filled the bar. As she passed a few of the drunken men, she got more irritated with the way they looked at her, and the stupid words they used to address her. She wanted nothing more at that moment than to reply them. Reply them the way she normally did to people of their kind—with a stake stuck in their skulls—but she had more important things to do, so she ignored them and walked straight to the bartender.

"Are you the...", she stared at a rough, tiny piece of paper in her hand, "um, Mr Jones"
"Yeah. They actually call me J.J
here... Wait, how do you know my name?"
"It is not necessary for you to know."
He stared at her for a while, “Ok. However you found out, just know I really don't like being called Mr Jones, so you can call me J.J, most people call me..."
"Where is it?" she asked, cutting his speech.
"Excuse me, where is what?"
'The package you are supposed to give me. "
"What package? I don't get..., Ok, are you the Kira that owns it?"
"What do you think? Now where is it?"
"Follow me."He led her to a small room which was stuck with old furnitures and empty bottles. "I really like the name Kira. If I ever have a daughter I will surely name her Kira." He opened one of the cupboards and brought out a dusty file. "So are you like a gang member? Cause that sword you're hiding beneath your coat is really cool."
"Stop asking questions."
"Ok. Well here it is", he drew out a white envelope which on it were the words ; LITZI HI KITARA(Letter For Kitara)
She collected the envelope from him and slowly opened it. She drew out a paper and read the letter which said;

Dear Kay,
The time has come. The time which we all have dreaded for centuries has approached us. Kitara, I know you are brave and tough but what is ahead of you is something you have never imagined. Use all your trainings, skills and intellect to fight the dark bloods. If only I can be there to help you, but I can't and neither can anyone help, you are all alone. It really hurts me as I say this but it's the truth, you are alone.
In the envelope is our family's kintxi ring. That's the only way I can assist you. I know I've told you about the dangers of using the ring and the evil in it, but you will need it in fighting against them, and I know you will use it well. Be wise and don't let the power intoxicate you.
Be careful. Be smart. The whole universe depends on you, on what you do so make wise decisions.
Can't love you more.

Dad.

Her eyes were itching and tears were welling up in her eyes, her heart was pounding and her mind was ablaze. She knew he was dead, not captured. But no, she wasn't going to cry, that would be the last thing her father would want her to do. Like he said, the fate of the universe depends on her, and she wasn't going to cry like a baby. She took in deep breaths and went deeper into the envelope. She drew out the ring and was surprised to see a beautiful pearled ring. How could such a beauty be evil. When she put it on, a dim red light blinked from the small pearls on it.
"Wow, that must cost a fortune", J.J said with marvel. "You are gonna sell that, right? "
"Thank you, Mr. Jones." She said walking towards the door, totally ignoring his question.
"No problem, Kira."
She stopped at the door and gave a crooked smile,"It's Kitara."
She walked out of the bar giving no regards to the drunks this time, she had better things to do.
It was night and the stars were already blinking. In a few minutes, this busy city will be silent and still. "Help, someone help me". She turned around and saw a teenage girl screaming at the top of her voice. Many people had gathered her and Kitara assumed that they were already assisting the young girl, so she turned around and continued walking. But then her sharp ears caught some of the words they were saying:
Help, tell them to stop pushing me
Are you alright. No one's here
May be she's drunk.
Kid do you need a ride home
Help! Help!

Kitara immediately knew what was wrong. She ran through the crowd and said to them, "My sister is really drunk. I told her not to go to a damn club. I am sincerely sorry. Facing the disoriented girl she said, "You're really in deep trouble. Stop screaming and let's go home."
She held her arm and pulled the girl towards a dark alley. She turned to the murmuring crowd, "I'm so sorry for the inconveniences"
She continued walking with the girl, who was murmuring the word 'help'. She led her into an empty warehouse and shut the door. "Show yourselves bastard and stop tormenting the little human, by the way you've won."
The two darks holding the girl appeared out of thin air with a wide grin on their faces. "Kitara, your escape from bondage means nothing. You are still going to be captured like the rest", said one of the darks.
"Or you maybe killed like your father." The other said
"I kinda prefer the latter one" the first one said and they both laughed uncontrollably.
"I may die, but I'm surely living longer than you two." She drew out her sword and charged them.
In seconds, the garage was stained with black blood. She looked at the young girl, who had her mouth and eyes wide open. Kitara walked to her and pulled her up," Trust me, that wouldn't be a good pose when time gets paused."
She opened the garage door and she heard nothing. The busy city was now as quiet as a graveyard. Time was paused. The darks were in Earth now.

But then, the girl beside her was still blinking her eyes.

"What the hell!"
