Are you alright?"
She stood there, her hands trembling, her eyes wide open and dreamy, her hair was wet and dripping with sweat, her face was white like she had seen a ghost-well she had just seen two demons.
"Can you hear me?"
No response.
Kitara knew that the girl was in total shock. Why? Because she had seen two darks. Stupid. To her the girl was just weak like all humans-vulnerable. Kitara thought of humans as powerless and helpless, all they take pride in doing is bitching and babying around because they had problems. She had not always detested weakness. Her hatred for it started years ago, when she was a young kid, in Haven.
She was a happy princess, who thought everything and everyone was good and joyful-like she was. Her father had taken her once to earth, to see what was beyond. And quite frankly, she had been very excited. Her mum was queen and ruler of greybloods, and her dad was head warrior and defender of their people. Everything was fine. Until it stopped being fine. Her mother was forced to get married to the King of the darkbloods for the sake of unity of the two kingdoms. Her mother agreed because she wasn't strong enough to stand her ground and say no to all the lords of both the darks and greybloods, who thought it was a great idea to unite the kingdoms. Her father dreaded that his wife was taken away from him, and that when he tried convincing them, they saw him as a traitor and stripped him off his post as Commander, and that was-well-very humiliating. When her uncle became king, her father took her away from the palace to a small poor structured, incomplete crappy structure lucky enough to be called a building, which was at the very outskirts of the land. She had occasionally visited the palace, and on all the occasions her uncle had pleaded for her to stay but her father had refused. He didn't want her to be like her mother who was kind and good-hearted but weak in spirit. He wanted her to be strong and independent, and at that young age she was trained hardly to be tough and strong.
She had only visited the palace to get news about the welfare of her mother. She could remember when her Uncle, King Rizovih told her that her mother had given birth to twin girls, she wasn't too happy because she had thought her mother had forgotten about her , but her uncle and dad had always told her that her mom could never forget her. She could remember saying to her dad;
"Mom now has twin girls."
"Wow that's great". Her father had said so though he hated that his wife was married to another, but the last thing he wanted was his sweet daughter knowing that.
"I'm sure she doesn't remember me. She must be too occupied with her new children."
"Don't say that. You and I know how much your mother loves you."
"Then why doesn't she come to visit or send a letter at least"
"She can't. I'm sure if she was able to do so , she definitely would have", her father gave her a reassuring smile and said in a funny voice, "At least, now you have sisters, which you've always wanted".
"It's been almost a year. I miss her."
Her father hugged her and said, "I know, I miss her too."
The young girl's temperature had reduced, her trembling had stopped and her face had regained it's color but her mind was still far away, like she saw smoke dancing in the sky. It was apparent that the girl was disoriented. And terrified.
Kitara directed her to a chair and sat her down. She removed her long hairy coat and placed it on the girl's shoulder.
"Best of luck", she said walking towards the door .She gave the girl a last glance before walking out of the warehouse.
It was colder outside than it was before. The sky wasn't as beautiful as it had seemed before. Yeah, everywhere the darkbloods were in was always the opposite of beautiful. They ruined everything that came their way. She closed her eyes and sought for direction of the Stone of Travel. It wasn't far away, it was really close. It almost seemed like it was moving towards her and indeed it was. Right before her eyes, but it wasn't a stone. It was something like a creature. A dog, no a wolf . A shiny wolf that almost seemed invincible. It was huge with long sharp fangs. Its eyes were fixed on her. It felt like they were connected, like they were very close, too close. She was almost sure that she had met it before. But where? That was what she didn't know. It moved slowly and calmly towards her, mouth open and eyes still fixed on her. She didn't know why, but she was sure that it wasn't going to hurt her. It stopped very close to her. It's wet nose slightly touching her belt. Then slowly, it dissolved. Dissolved into something silver-like the combination of liquid and gas. She bent down to touch it but before she did, it had risen up and form the words ; KITARA MIYTZ TYM MISTU (KITARA LORD OF TIME TRAVEL)
And with speed, it rushed into her ring. She felt a little bit pleased-more than she has been for a long time. Now, no one can come in or go out of earth without her permission. Not even Dìcara, the Lord of the darks. That's what it entailed, she had some sort of advantage and hell, it was high time. The red light blinking from the ring was brighter. She had a lot of things to do and she had just got started. She closed her eyes again, but this time she sought for the direction of the darkbloods.
She had walked for miles when she heard a noise and a low cry behind her. She immediately drew out her sword which glowed in the dark. She moved cautiously towards the direction of the sound, and to her surprise, it was the girl, the young girl she had left at the warehouse. The girl seemed to have fallen down from the bicycle which was also on the floor. The girl was bleeding from her ankle and couldn't stand. When the girl saw her, she wanted to run, but when she tried standing, she fell down and wailed in pain. Kitara moved closer and said calmly, "It's okay, let me help."
She helped the girl to her feet, and put her hand under the girls arm. Slowly, she led the girl into a hotel nearby.
The hotel was filled with static humans. Kitara knew the girl was terrified-of the static humans, of the darks which she had seen appear out of thin air, and of course of her. She barged into a room which was once occupied by a huge guy, looked like a bouncer, a rough character-for sure, but now nothing but a statue with a cigarette in hand. She laid the bleeding girl on the big queen sized bed, and pushed the statue of a guy outside the room. It was really cozy in the room. She had cleaned the girls wound and wrapped it with bandage which she found in a first aid kit in the bathroom. The girl had her eyes fixed on kitara the whole time and in a low voice , she asked, "Why are you helping me?"
"You are injured."
"Pardon me. But I don't think that's why"
Kitara looked at the girl for some seconds and said, "You know what, you are actually right. The truth is, I don't know why. So it's better for you to keep mute before I change my mind."
"Ok, no problem. But I think the..."
" ....I said keep mute!"
When she had finished dressing the wound, she gave the girl a sleeping pill which in minutes took effect and she literally thanked the pills. While the girl was asleep, kitara went out to clean the blood tracks of the girl. She had wanted to leave the girl and continue with her work but she just couldn't, which was surprising to her, because she didn't care about humans. But for this one, she cared.
When she got back, the girl was sitting on the bed devouring a snack.
"Oh, you are back", she said surprised,"I didn't think you'll come back"
"I didn't think so too". Kitara said settling down on a soft couch.
" Wait. Does that mean you and I are like together. I mean like, you know together, as in..."
"I get you. And no. No we are not. It just means that I'm here for now." Kitara stretched her hands and grabbed a bottle of rum, she opened it and took a sip,"By the way, you don't seem sad about the fact that your family and friends are like statues,"
"Well that's because, I don't have any."
"Fascinating, please tell me more."
