Bitter Reunions

Janus and Virgil walked into the police station. Many detectives greeted them warmly as they walked to Logan's office.

Logan was frowning at a small file on his desk, on of the smallest the brothers had ever seen. And it didn't seem to be very helpful based on Logan's appearance. His hair was ruffled and his tie loosened. Even his glasses sat on top of his head.

Janus knocked on the door frame of the room, "Afternoon Logan."

Logan looked up and gave them a grim smile, replacing his glasses on his nose.

"Afternoon Janus, Virgil."

"So is this the case?" Virgil walked over and pointed to the file.

"Yep." Logan gestured for the brothers to take a look.

Janus hummed as he looked over the short summary, "this... Isn't a lot to go on..."

The testimony Roman gave was that Remus went on a date, gave one update but then missed the second. Roman called the date and he said Remus had gone home. Remus never arrived back at his and Romans apartment. The dates story matched up and his house was clear as well. It seemed as if he just disappeared off the face of the earth.

"I know." Logan sighed, "Roman is in the conference room. Patton's trying to comfort him."

"Alright. Well go talk with him." Janus nodded, closing the case file.

Logan stood and nodded, "I'll join you soon, I have a few other cases to look over."

Janus looked over to Virgil, who had been quiet ever since he saw the file.

"Hey, you okay?" Janus nudged his brother.

Virgil shrugged, "It's unsettling that Remus would just disappear like this. He was the strongest out of all of us and from what the file said, I'm thinking kidnapping. It's..."

"I get it." Janus sighed, "Remus isn't the type to just let someone take him."

Virgil shook his head, "let's just talk to Roman."

"Alright." Janus nodded.

The brothers walked out of the office and down the hall. The blinds were drawn in the conference room, most likely for privacy. Janus knocked on the door before opening it.

Roman hadn't changed a bit since high school. It seemed an acting career suited him well.

"Hey Janus! Hey Virge!" Patton gave them a smile from his seat beside Roman.

"Sup." Virgil gave a small nod.

"Nice to see you again." Janus smiled, sitting across from Roman, "how have things been since high school?"

Roman shrugged, "well, currently it could be better..."

"It's okay Roman, we'll find Remus." Patton tried to give his friend some encouragement.

"Exactly." Virgil nodded, "so what happened?"

"Remus had gone out on a date with a guy named Remy." Roman started, "The first two times he checked in, he said everything was going great. But then he missed a check in time. I tried calling him so many times... He didn't answer. Then I called Remy. He said that Remus hadn't been feeling good and had left early."

Janus nodded, "so Remus checked in twice and disappeared?"

Roman sighed, "yeah..."

"Hey, don't worry Ro, we'll find him!" Patton smiled.

Virgil smirked and lifted himself from were he was leaning on the wall, "Yeah. And our first order of business is to talk to Remy."

"Alright." Roman managed a small smile, "thank you guys for helping, even if it is just your job."

"Yeah yeah, don't worry about it." Janus rolled his eyes with a slight smirk, "We'll get the Terrible Twins back together in no time."

Roman finally laughed, "oh gods, why did you have to bring that up!?"

"Cause you two we're horrible in high school." Virgil shook his head.

"They weren't that bad!" Patton defended.

Janus deadpanned, "they set a lab on fire."

"Accidents happen!" Patton pouted.

"It was a microscope lab."

"Oh."

The group burst into laughter as they recalled their memories of high school. The teasing Virgil and Patton got for being a year younger. Logan correcting all the teachers at least once a day.

But there was still an ever looming emptiness where there should have been an inappropriate joke or innuendo. A constant reminder that they weren't all together anymore.

(Heyyyyy, sorry for the long wait... The gods decided to curse me by letting me start this book and then immediately giving me a new hyperfixation that is the Dream SMP. But anyway I hope you enjoyed and hopefully I'll still work on it XD)
