What if the stars never aligned the way they did. What would happen if they wore each other's sins like a mask for everyone to see...would they run from her love? Or simply avoid?

"Your wand Harry! Your wand!" Hermione screams beside Ariadne as Harry is fighting for his life against a Dragon for his first task

" I heard there was going to be a ball," Esme said, readjusting in her seat

" where did you hear that from" Ari yelled over the noise

"McGonagle, of course."

"I may just skip it" Ari wasn't big on dancing, never was.

"Nonsense! You will go, and you will like it," she said commandingly

Draco sent Ari a letter asking her to meet me at the astronomy tower Though he didn't know if she was going to make it since He had sent it so late

He paced back-and-forth, waiting for what seemed like forever, having a feeling she would never show

"Draco?" A soft voice called out, making him turn swiftly

"You made it"

Draco slowly started walking towards Ariadne

"Of course I did i-"

"I have to ask you something,"

"Ask me then."

"I need to know if you will go to the Yule ball with me?" He asked, "you know, a boyfriend-girlfriend thing."

"I'll go with you; just get your daddy to get me a nice dress."

-

Dear mother

I haven't heard from you since I got here a couple of months ago

I heard there was a Yule ball. Did you guys have a Yule Ball in your year at Hogwarts?

Someone has asked me already

He's weird and blonde. I'm convinced he dyes his hair.

Love you

Ariadne

Ariadne wished she had her mother's features. Her hair, her skin, anything would do. She didn't want to look like her father.

Ariadne had sent that letter to her mother 2 hours ago just for it to be sent back unopened so ether her owl couldn't find her mother -which is a pretty rare thing- or she was ignoring Ariadne

Ariadne heard a tapping sound outside her window just as She had finished reading her letter over

As She looked over, She spotted an Owl Peking its head in

Snow, her mother's owl

Dear Ariadne

I love you, sol

Mother

That did not look like her mother's handwriting at all- why would she send a letter without even opening mine and how did the owl find Ariadne yet can't find her

The next week or so was bland. Nothing fun happened, but Malfoy was more sketchy than normal.

He had dark circles under his eyes, a frown where a smile is supposed to lay. Normal, he was smiling and laughing with Alexander Grayback, but now it's like there are ghosts.

Alexander has lost weight while Draco has lost sleep.

Everyone had to be pointing it out.

-
"Hey, Grey, can I talk to you?" Draco asked after they left their last class of the day.

"Sure, I just have a few-"

"Right now"

"Damn ok"

-

Draco paced back and forth in the astronomy tower with his hands pulling at his hair.

"Look- I can't tell you most of the story, but I'll tell you a little."

"What is it? Do you watch midget porn or something?"

"What- no!"

"For someone who doesn't watch it, you sure answered that fast-"

He cut her off by pulling up his sleeve far enough to show the dark mark laying on his skin.

"Well, that took a turn," she said, stunned.

"No, why- how- he's dead hasn't he been dead sense before we were alive-?"

"He's not dead. He was in hiding. God, I shouldn't be telling you this, but I need to tell someone."

Ariadne was at a loss for words. It came up so randomly. She wanted to hug him, but that's when she remembered-

"Death eaters- They killed my brother did you know that?"

"Yes"

Her eyes went wide "you knew, yet you still asked me out... you killed my brother, you psychopath!"

"Technically, I didn't; one of my relatives did-"

Ariadne stopped in her tracks and ran out of the astronomy tower with tears in her eyes.

She wanted to make him feel bad.
