A/N - This will be very, very slow to update. Things in my life have taken my motivation to write, and when I do write I don't always have the motivation to publish it, so if you're willing to be very patient with me, I have finally finished this chapter. I don't know when the next one will be up, but just know that if any point you want to try making your own variation of my story, you have full permission to do so. If you do decide to try, I would like to read what you do with it! :)

A lone boy in a dark room pulls up the stats on how things are going with the technology of the place he's called home for so long he's almost lost track of how long, almost. His pupils narrow to slits and ears twitch as he hears a familiar roar. One he hasn't heard in 10,000 years. He puts all his stuff away before crawling into the nearby vent, exiting at the entrance just as the large door opens and four people walk in. He sees a giant Red robotic lion just outside that doesn't seem to recognize or notice the boys presence. He feels a little hurt as his pupils expand to large circles. The lights are off in the castle, but he can see the creatures the Red Lion let in just fine. He also didn't want to waste power. His pupils narrow to slits again as he turns his full attention to the four new people. The castle scanners turn on and he gasps at the sudden light and hides behind a pillar as the lights begin to turn on, seeming to accept their presence. He follows them silently as they walk through the halls, making sure they don't do anything. They arrive in a room the boy very much wished they had stayed away from. They start examining the room and he's about to step in when there's a hiss as the pods rise and he stops moving. The pod containing a woman wearing a golden crown with a blue crystal opens and she falls out, getting caught by a burly man with a white patch of hair in the front. The boy's eyes narrow, along with his pupils, at the man that caught the princess as he notices his metal arm. The other pod opens but he doesn't pay it any mind. He keeps his eyes fixed on the man, watching for the slightest move to hurt any of them. The boy almost jumps out of his hiding spot when he reaches out, but he puts his arm back down, a look crossing his face like someone was meant to be where he had moved his hand. He backs up to the wall, staying in the shadows as he makes his way to the grate on a vent. He opens it as quietly as he can and put his feet in first, keeping his eyes on the metal armed man.

He doesn't take his eyes off them as the woman that was in the first pod accesses the files showing how long they've been asleep. He doesn't listen, already knowing what it says and what she's going to say about it. He uses the vents to follow them to the control room, where the woman pulls up a star map. She begins explaining the lions and what they look for in their paladins, along with who will be piloting them. She pulls up the black lion and sends the image to the one with the Galran metal arm, making the boy growl, revealing himself to the group.

"You can't give the black lion to a galra, princess!" He growls, jumping out of the vent and going over to look the man in black in the eyes.

"Who are you?" He hears the princess say, he can feel her gaze as she glares at him.

"You can't be so naive as to think you can give the Black Lion to a man who was clearly with the Galra," the boy says, motioning to the metal arm, which makes the man seem to flinch at the mention of the alien race. The princess' gaze shifts to the arm, noticing that it is, in fact, Galran.

"If you know the lions, then you know that I don't control who they choose. Black chose this man, therefore we have to trust that black is making the right choice here!" She says as her gaze shifts to the royal advisor for help, but he just shrugs, not knowing who this boy is or how he knows Voltron after thousands of years.

"Wouldn't be the first time Black has made a mistake," the boy growls, but backs away, pupils slits and pointed ears pressed against the sides of his head, an ability that also helps with helmets but that's not important right now. He notices her eyes are still on him. "What is it now, Princess?"
