Beast (rewrite)

Chapter 2

I've already written part of the next chapter and I just wanna warn you, I made Allura a bitch in that chapter. But I remember her being a bit of a bitch in the show too. Especially when she found out about Keith being part Galra. Please tell me if there's anything I need to fix, btw. It's been a while since I watched Voltron, so there are probably things I got wrong that should be fixed. With that out of the way, enjoy this chapter!

"Thousands? How can you live that long?" Pidge questions, standing from where she was knocked over.

"Now that you mention it, Allura and Coran were in their pods for ten thousand years, right? And he still recognized them like he knew them before they were in there," Hunk speaks up this time. Lance doesn't answer, putting the staff away.

"Indeed, but I don't remember ever seeing him before we were put in the pods," Allura says, having come into the room from where she and Coran were observing the fight. Coran is looking at him, like he's trying to figure out if he's seen him before. Lance knows they wouldn't recognize him. Not by his face or the name given to him by the King. They would probably recognize him by the name the people helped by Voltron gave him though. "Lance, how do you know us?" She looks to the boy, who was now looking at the group.

"Perhaps you'll recognize me by my title instead, Princess and Royal Advisor," Lance crosses his arms. "My name is Lance, but people have called me The Beast of Voltron since Voltron was first created," Lance watches the two Alteans expressions change to widened eyes and slightly open mouths. "My job was to protect the Paladins of old and occasionally pilot the lions when their pilots were too injured to do so themselves. I have some bond with all the lions for this reason. Now, before I start training you all, we need to get your lions. Don't we, Princess?" Lance doesn't give any of them a chance to ask questions before moving on as he looks to the woman in question, who snaps out of her thoughts at the question and nods. Lance looks to the paladins, and he swears he sees the Princess glaring at him slightly. But it doesn't linger long before Allura speaks.

"Right, lets find them and then come up with a plan to go get them," Allura and Coran walk out first, followed closely by Lance, then by the new paladins after they put their weapons away. They go back to the control room, where Allura starts typing at the screens around her pedestal. Coran goes to his own controls. Lance places a hand on the Blue Paladin chair, hesitant to sit in it. He sighs, before slowly sitting down, pulling up a screen of his own. He relaxes into the chair, typing away at the screen, looking for Blue. Where are you Blue, Lance asks through their connection, but all he gets back is a muffled purr, the lion unable to answer.

"Keith, you'll take Hunk to get Yellow," Lance hears Allura instruct the new paladins. "Shiro, you'll take a pod with Pidge to get Green. Lance," Allura turns to him, he swears he feels waves of- was that anger? Or perhaps jealousy? Lance can't put his finger on it, he wasn't used to people looking at him like that. The only time I've felt this was when I stood against... Lance shakes himself from his thoughts before talking to the Princess.

"I'm working on finding Blue," Lance gives her a glance before going back to typing.

"Right! Now that we have all that decided, I'll open wormholes for you four to get going!" Keith and Hunk go to Red while Shiro and Pidge go to the hangar holding the pods. Allura places her hands on the controls on either side of her, readying to open wormholes. Red and a pod fly into sight and Allura opens the wormholes. "Good luck Paladins!" She says before they go through. Lance continues looking for Blue. He sees Coran running diagnostics on the castle and Allura removes one hand from the controls to also look for Blue.

"Focus on the wormholes, Princess. I'm certain I can find Blue on my own," Lance says, looking back down to his screen.

"I said to just call me Allura," she answers simply, but he sees her put her hand back on the controls out of the corner of his vision. He finds Blue, pupils narrowing along with his eyes when he sees he was right when he felt she was muffled earlier. Lance looks up to tell Allura and Coran, only to see Red, Yellow and Green come through the wormholes. The paladins come in and Lance hovers his hand under the screen, lifting his hand and the screen with it as he gets up. He walks over to the group, getting their attention.
