It was a few weeks into the summer holidays and I couldn't be more thankful for Xenophilius' kindness to let me stay with him and Luna. The Weasleys lived on the other side of the town so I was able to meet up with Fred and George often and Hedwig was more than happy to fly to Neville's to deliever my letters to him. This was the best summer I had had in my life, I had friends, no Dursleys and was staying with some of the most interesting people in the world. Xenophilius insisted I called him by his first name after the first time I spoke to him, it took some getting used to but I was happy to do so. I loved their house it just screamed magic and unique. Xenophilius didn't let me and Luna help him with the cleaning or cooking because "Why would you need to help, child, when I can simply just use magic and do it in seconds?",everything was so different living with the Lovegood's and I couldn't have asked for anything better. Luna and I continued to get closer over the summer and I began to see her like a crazy younger sister. I told Luna and Xenophilius about Sirius being innocent and how he was my godfather, how Peter Pettigrew is alive and how he got away. Xenophilius seemed cautious of the idea to start with but the more I told him the more he entertained the idea, Luna on the other hand knew I would never lie to her about anything, especially this serious.
As Luna promised, a few days after he had picked us up from the station, Xenophilius flooed with us to Diagon Alley and took us to Gringotts, it was a very interesting trip, to say the least.
Flashback
I stepped out of the fireplace in the Leaky Cauldron and sent a small smile over to Luna, we all head out the back door to the pub and Xenophilius pulls out his wand to tap the bricks and the entranceway slowly moves into place, we step through and I feel my smile grow as I see the bustling street on the other side. I see the wizards and witches flowing in a sea of billowing multicoloured cloaks as they take a day of shopping, seems that even coming on a Tuesday, near the beginning of the summer made no difference to the amount of people crowding in the cobble-stoned street. We walk past the rickety old building containing books, wands, animals and even ice cream until we reach the huge marble building.
I stare up at it, even after five years in the magical world it stills has me in awe. We walk with casual haste to the huge wooden doors, I see the goblins standing guard and bow to the one on the left with the words "May your gold flow freely", before turning to the one on the right and repeating my action. I had decided to read up on wizard (and other creatures) customs, according to the book I read, this was the polite way to greet a goblin, you shoud also treat them with upmost respect (I would think that common sense- they take care of your money and are fine blacksmiths) and that should you find yourself in the ownership of a goblin-made artifact, you should attempt to return it as they are very valuable to goblins, not only for monetry value either. They seem surprised that I know the correct way to greet them but they soon pull themselves out of their shock and return the greeting with a smirk on their lips.
They bow and together say "And may your enemies fall at your feet."
The one on the left lowers his voice so only myself and possibly the Lovegoods "You are most welcome in the Bank of Gringotts, Wizard. I am Goblin Furor."
I reply as polietly as I can, with a kind but respectful smile, in the same quiet voice, " Greatly honoured, Goblin Furor. I am Wizard Hadrian." I decide to use my full name rather than my commonly known one. I nod to them both and they nod back as the Lovegooods and I enter the elegant bank.
We walk to a free teller "Goblin sire, may your gold flow freely." Many of the goblins look over to my bowed body in shock at my knowledge of their customs.
He doesn't look up from his papers and replies "And may your enemies fall at your feet," he looks up and slight shock crosses his face as he sees me but he continues all the same, "Wizard sire. I am Goblin Ragnok. How may I assist you today sire?" Other witches and wizards look in shock at the politeness of the usually rather rude species as he bows to me in return. I wish people would choose to respect the ways of other species and take account for their customs, it would improve so many people and creature' lives.
I rise from my bow and say, mustering up all my courtesy "Goblin Ragnok, I am Wizard Hadrian Potter and I wish to have some tests done, if it would be possible."
A small smile creeps onto his lips at my request, "Which tests would you wish to have, Wizard Potter? I am head of the Potter vaults so if it is well with you, I would be providing these tests."
I smile graciously and reply "I wish to have an interitance test, a vault test and a spell and potion test, please Goblin Ragnok."
He smirks in return and rises from his seat, "Do follow me, Wizard Potter, and bring your friends if you wish."
I reply to his unasked questions "This is Wizard Xenophilius Lovegood and Witch Luna Lovegood, I am currently staying with them." Luna bows gracefully when I introduce her and hints to her father to do the same. Ragnok smiles and nods to each of them before turning and walking to his office, we follow.
"Have a seat Wizard Potter, Wizard Lovegood, Witch Lovegood." We take a seat in the comfy chairs he gestered to across from him. That's when everything got very interesting.
