Life is a Road

There was a lot of preparation that went into the wedding, more than she could ever imagine. Although, most of that probably had to deal with marrying a king instead of a boy from her village. Penelope was some help, offering some pointers on what worked and didn't work at her own wedding. From the dress fittings to explaining Sophie that the dresses could only be a shade of blue or black as the council dictated; trying to stick with Camelot's traditions. (She was able to compromise, however, by giving Sophie a small flower crown that would separate her as the maid of honor.)

It would've been a lot easier if Tedros had been able to help with some of the decisions, but since he was "king" this had to be something done by her and she took all the help she could get; from Chaddick and Beatrix and Guinevere, and even Lancelot on occasion. It was hard, almost suffocating in some ways, being left alone to plan something that she never thought she would have to plan. Sure, Sophie had a dream wedding planned, but she still had to "conform" to Camelot's old traditions and it was annoying.

After her explosion in the garden, it seemed that everyone was on edge; loathing the scolding they got from two kings and a queen. Agatha was grateful that she was able to go about without any snide or crass remarks, but it still felt weird when people looked at her. She hadn't meant to spill her heart, something that was happening far to often for her liking. Everyone seemed to be walking on hot coals around her, scurrying around like the mice that used to live in Agatha's kitchen.

Speaking of the kitchen, she was finally allowed to enter the place where all the magic happened without the fear of being chased out. If anything, she was welcomed, even if it was just to taste the cakes and meal options for the banquet following the wedding. She had to force herself to ignore Chaddick's snickers, him being the assigned guard that Tedros trusted the "most" of all of the people he worked with. The brunette couldn't stop giggling whenever the cook turned away and got a new cake, one that looked just as delicious as the last.

After the cake tasting, there was decorating, something that was actually a tad fun, choosing between three colors and hanging lights. Considering the fact everyone was on edge, she was allowed to help with some of the decorating and getting up on the ladder to hang the lanterns was magical. She loved watching them flicker, rising higher as the other decorators pulled the lines to have them seeming float on the air.

It was all falling together, becoming something Agatha never envisioned, yet at the same time, was almost filling. She could only imagine what Tedros' face would look like when he entered the room and saw the twinkling lights. With every decoration she chose, it was almost like reliving her story and the meeting she had with Tedros. It was almost as if her story was once more coming to life, all the good moments that were buried by the wars and bloodshed shining for a few moments.

Callis also seemed to be in some of the decorations, her mother's presence strong as she set up a few of the black curtains that shimmered like Merlin's cape. It was nice to be in a room with little to no expectations or whispers doing something that benefitted her in the end. It was nice to be a person once more instead of an almost figurehead. For a little longer, she would also continue to be someone who wasn't married to a king and she could continue to pretend they were lovers who didn't belong to a kingdom.

She was up on a ladder, hanging up the last star when Tedros rushed into the room, panting like he had just come running from the other side of the castle, out of his meeting early. She tilted her head, looking at him in confusion as she climbed down the ladder and walked over to him, making it only halfway when her answer waltzed through the double doors, tackling her to the ground without another breath.

"Aggie!" Sophie squealed, acting as if she hadn't seen Agatha in years. "I'm so glad I found you. Teddy was very adamant that you shouldn't be bothered and that you already had your wedding dress, but I just have to check to make sure it's suitable for a royal wedding. What about practice and we still have to decorate! There's so much to do and I'm honestly offended you didn't call me sooner."

"Uh--the decorations are up, Sophie." Agatha said, hugging her sister in return and waving off the palace guards who had rushed into the ballroom before giving Tedros a glare when he gave her a look, almost like he wanted Sophie arrested.

"What do you mean? These can't be the decorations. This is a wedding, not a funeral! Who let you be in charge of the decorations committee!" Sophie exclaimed, looking around the room, aghast. "I shutter to think about what your dress looks like. Please tell me it's white and not black. I might actually have a heart attack if you marry a king in black."

"I hope it's a black dress. I think it'd be cool!" Hester said, walking in with the rest of the bridal/grooms party. "I also think Sophie having a heart attack would be great entertainment."

"I still don't understand why they are in your party." Sophie said, turning up her nose at the other Nevers, (her party consisting of 4 Nevers and 2 Evers despite the council's wishes) and rolling her eyes when Anadil smirked at a guard. "I think that I am the only Never who should be even allowed in this kingdom and I really think you should do something about them before they curse the entire kingdom with some plague."

"Sophie, you aren't really allowed to show up unannounced." Tedros reminded, looking at Sophie with a stern look. "It's only by Agatha's graces that you weren't arrested when you rushed into the castle without being announced or cleared."

"So that's why there was such a hostile welcome." Sophie gave a nod, turning back to Agatha once more. "Back to business, what are you wearing? Is it designer? White? I hope I get to stand out being your maid-of-honor and everything. I've noticed Beatrix and Kiko have the same dress I do and Reena's is a very close color. I don't want to blend in with people who aren't in the party, Aggie. I was born to be a star."

"You know it's our wedding day." Tedros growled, narrowing his eyes before shaking his head and heading off to get his groomsmen situated.

"He is right, Sophie. It is our wedding day." Agatha said, excusing herself and her bridesmaids from the ballroom and letting a head servant take over the rest of the smaller details. She gave a brief rundown to the other Nevers that terrorizing the guards wasn't allowed as she lead them over to her tower, pointedly ignoring the pleas to let at least one curse befall some lucky guest.

She was tempted when Dot asked if they could bewitch a council member, but decided to stand her ground and shook her head as they entered her room after being shown where they would be staying. There was only a few hours until the rehearsal took place and they had to get ready. After narrowing down Sophie's dress options, the women got ready and talked about school and assignments as they did so.

"You know, sometimes I wish that I wasn't a Legacy." Kiko said as she put in some earrings, tilting her head as she tried to decide which was the best. "But then I look here and realize that maybe I wish I was a queen or something." She continued, shaking her head and taking both out.

"It's not as nice as it seems." Agatha sighed, looking at her hands as she once more regretted letting Sophie picking which tiara she wore to the dinner.

"Speak for yourself." Dot said, rifling through the jewelry and slipping a few into her sleeve. "There's so much stuff here to pilfer and sell and you hold so much power. You can do so much." She continued, smiling widely at Hester who gave her a small smile and shake of her head, pulling Anadil into her as the two sat on one of the window seats.

"There's a lot of behind the scenes things that no one really talks about in school." Agatha sighed once more, looking away as she tried to forget about how everything would change tomorrow. She forced a smile however when Sophie came out, a decent tiara in her hands and shook her thoughts from her head. She ignored the concerned looks and placed the jewelry on her head.

Now, all she had to do was act and maybe the night would work out alright.
