Candles floated in the air and the ceiling was enchanted to look like the night sky. Of course I already knew this and grinned as some of the others looked around and gauged at the beauty of it. We walked up the the teachers table where a stool sat with the dusty, old sorting hat. It sang its little song loudly and when it finally went silent McGonagall started reading names off the paper she had hit Malfoy with. I didn't really pay attention to the names and housed until she called Ron's name.

"Ronald Weasley!"

He walked up to the stool nervously and waited as the hat was placed on his head.

"GRYFFINDOR!" it shouted.

Ron sighed in relief and ran off to join his siblings at the Gryffindor table.

"Harry Potter!" McGonagall continued.

Harry sat down and placed the hat on his head. As the hat made it's decision he was muttering something that looked a lot like not Slytherin. I Smirked.

"GRYFFINDOR!" the had finally  called.

Harry grinned and went to join Ron. Next was Malfoy. Of course the hat had barley even touched his head before placing him in Slytherin. He smirked and joined the Slytherins smugly.

"Y/N L/N!" McGonagall called.

I stepped up to the stool and sat down. The sorting hat was a heavy weight on my head as it made it's decision. After precisely forever and a day it finally made it's decision.

"Better be... HUFFLEPUFF!"

I smiled and made my way over to my table. A boy with brown hair and grey eyes made room for me on the edge of the table and introduced himself as soon as I sat down.

"Hi! I'm Cedric Diggory. I'm a third year." he stuck out his hand.

I took it, "Y/N  L/N."

He smiled widely and I couldn't help but smile back.

He leaned a little closer, "Just so you know everyone thinks this house is just a bunch of ditzy softies."

Perfect.

I smiled, "Good."

Cedric raised and eyebrow.

I sighed, "When you like alone in the middle of nowhere you find a lot of creative ways to entertain yourself. I've done a lot of digging and throughout all of my research Hufflepuff is only mentioned once, same with Ravenclaw. That means that the teachers are more likely to pay more attention to Gryffindor and Slytherin than us. So we could probably get away with anything, and even if they did find out we could just blame it on Gryffindor or Slytherin... or both and they would probably believe us since they think we're innocent little fluff balls and all." I explained as I pressed my fists against my face for emphasis.

He grinned, "You, are very smart."

"Really?" I asked, "Could you tell that to my mom?"

He laughed so I did to. I had just meet this boy and I already liked him. He seemed so... free and laid back, the exact opposite of everything in my life I was used to. Professor Dumbledore gave his beginning of year speech before food appeared on the plates and we dug in.
