March 20th

Since Mr. Eisman will be coming tomorrow in time for my birthday, I thought I would delight myself in having a good time. Last evening, I spent my time with a literary gentleman.

This is because Mr. Eisman always like me to have literary people in and out of my apartment, after all his greatest interest in me is that I do not waste time in wanting to greater my mind.

For such occasions, Mr. Eisman likes me to have what the French people call a “salo” which means that people all get together in the evening to improve their minds.

I invited all of the brainy gentlemen I could think up. There were four of them. The first is the professor of economics up at Columbia College. The second is the famous editor of the New York Transcript. The third is a famous playright who writes very, very famous plays that are all
about Life.

Anybody would recognize his name but it always seems to slip my memory because all of his real friends only call him Sam. The fourth is a writer who writes novels from England, that Sam invited to join us.

The gentlemen all brought their own liquor when we got together, so I called up Dorothy and Gloria to join in with me.

At the end of gathering, the apartment turned into a wreck. So Lulu and I had worked like proverbial dogs to get it cleaned up, but who knows how long it will take to get the chandelier fixed
