Dear readers,

Thank you, again and again, for all of your support for my story, Last Olive Bistro. When I came up with the idea for this age-gap relationship a few months ago, I never expected 1) to finish it so quickly, and 2) for it to transform into the journey it did.

My fellow writers may agree that when you begin a new project, you might not be completely sure where you're going with it. It may start with an opening paragraph, an explosive ending, or maybe a group of characters with quirky traits. Whatever your idea is, you just have a feeling to run with it and soon enough, it turns into a full-fledged novel that people actually read and enjoy.

My idea began with just a young woman, an older man, and a journey towards a better life. But I didn't want it to be a typical sugar daddy/spoiled girl plot--I wanted Chloe to be strong and independent. No matter who was helping her, she had to ultimately make her own choices.

After all, that's real life--it's all made up of our own choices. You choose what you will do with any opportunities you have. You choose how to make opportunities when you have nothing else. However, everyone deserves a little push or two to get them started. That's what I wanted Chloe to represent, and I hope she did.

I wasn't a huge fan of excessive character description in this case, because readers are full of their own imagination and deserve to exercise it to the fullest. Chloe is anyone. She's not confined to a specific hair color, eye color, or skin color. She's not confined to a certain gender, if you don't see her as such. She is whoever the reader wants her to be, even yourself, and I hope I have construed that well in my writing through her personality and why she makes her life choices.

So, what's next? I have some ideas I'm toying with. I will be beginning something new in the meantime, though not publishing anything just yet. A new story will come soon, and I plan on it being a tad longer, but I kindly ask for your patience. Right now I have ideas and notes, but soon enough they will transform into a story that I look forward to sharing with all of you.

Please feel free to message me or post comments regarding my story. I would absolutely love to hear all of your feedback - positive and critical - because it helps me to produce a work that can be thoroughly enjoyed by all readers. I seriously take all feedback to heart and will implement changes or suggestions as needed.

I hope you all are staying safe in these trying times that continue around the globe.

Always stay happy.

(socially distanced) xo Ruby.

Update, April 2024:

If you are interested, I am releasing a brand new story called "When You're Falling Behind"! The synopsis is,

Julie lives in her college dorm because she has nowhere else to go. She has no job prospects and no concrete plans for the future after graduation. Her roommates don't like her, her boyfriend is abusive, and sometimes she doesn't even like herself. A professor is the only constant in her life.

You can read it now! Updates are posted every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. You must click on my profile to find the story, since Wattpad doesn't allow links here. Thank you so much!
