Something snapped and we all turned our head to see Rita holding a broken plastic spoon. She got up walked away with a scowl on her face.
Ama got up and glared at Kwabena then followed Rita.
"Are you happy?", Eric asked. Kwabena shrugged and got up to leave. "I'll see you ladies around." Kwabena said before walking away.
"Don't mind him. You know he's crazy" Eric said. " And tell him to come and settle this stupid dispute before it gets out of hand" Zina replied, she looked calm but her voice held so much seriousness. He nodded and left.
I looked at the girls confusion written all over my face but no one seemed to care."Uhh..can someone explain to me what's going on," I asked.
Zina was the first to speak. "Tell her. I'm tired of this case already."I turned to Maya and she signed "Ok fine. As you could clearly see Rita and Ama don't get along. It's more of a one sided thing and it's been like that since form one. Rita confessed her feelings for Kwabena to us but she was always afraid to tell him. Then he took notice in Ama. He wouldn't leave her alone but she never paid him much attention. Rita became jealous of Ama, she said Ama was trying to steal Kwabena from her" she chuckled and continued "Ama would always try to patch things up. Constantly reminding her that she didn't like him and he was just trying to annoy her but Kwabena never made things easy. Whenever they ended their dispute he'd come along and profess his undying love for Ama. Rita just needs to understand that he doesn't like her and Ama needs to admit she likes him so this can all ends."
I looked at them trying to digest everything I had heard."Wait. You said Ama needs to admit she likes him." I asked
This time Zina replied"Yup. She'd never admit it but she always bits the corner of her bottom lips when we tease her. When Rita isn't here though"
"Wow!"
The siren went off and Zina and Maya packed their stuff away like they hadn't unloaded a bomb on me. I was still confused. Rita was behaving very immaturely no doubt about it but Kwabena was also wrong for leading her on.
We left the cafeteria and the others went to their various classes.I walked into the class and sat by Ama.
"Hey" I greeted her softly. She smiled at me.
"I'm guessing they've told you already" I only gave a nod."Hmmm, it sounds really stupid for me to be apologizing to her cause I haven't done anything wrong but that's just how it is. Ree is hard headed and I don't want a boy to come between us. In form one when Naa and her cousin started to pick on me she stood by me she'd drive them away anytime they came close to me until I learnt how to stand up for myself. I can't let our friendship fly out the window because some stupid infuriating boy with nice eyes can't stop bothering me."
I smiled and pointed out "you said he has nice eyes"
"Arghhhhh. Is that all you got from everything I told you." I burst out laughing but was cut short when the math teacher was netted the class.
"Good afternoon class" he greeted. We responded with a chorus of good afternoons.
"I hope you're well prepared for next weeks exams." There were groans and murmurs of no.
"Ok enough. Either way you're going to do it. There are going to be thirty questions and you have an hour to complete it."
"Ei sir that's not enough time oh" someone said from the back.
"Make it enough"we all burst out laughing at him TikTok reference."It's okay it's okay we're disturbing the other classes open to bags 210 and do the assignments there. When you're done copy the gages on the board those would be your work for the midterm"
