I'd learnt two things since I came to Kingston. One, they don't joke around with their sports and two they had extremely cute boys.
The girls and I were currently sitting in the bench admiring the sweaty bodies and abs of the boys.I watched as Eric bounced the ball around the court effortlessly and shirtless might I add.
"Someone's got a little crush on someone," Ama whispered wiggling her brows at me.
I looked at her embarrassed that I got caught. "you must be seeing things. You're probably dehydrated," I lied.
"Me?" She pointed at her chest
"Ei this girl paa, me Nana Ama seeing things,"she laughed a little and added
( ei- a word used to express shock)"there is no embarrassment in confessing that you were staring at him, we were all doing it," she smiled
I rolled my eyes at her and started conversing "so what do you people do for P.E?," I asked
"As you can clearly see my dear friend, sit around and watch our future husbands shirtless,"she said dramatically
I sat there with a blank face and said "you're kidding right?"
Ama stood there watching me then broke into fits of laugher "of course I'm kidding"she said admits laughter
"Julie the gossip said the P.E teacher got married or something and the school hasn't found a substitute yet," she said
"Okay..enough about P.E, so you like Eric eh"
"Oh no, why would you think that? All he does is ignore me," I said.
And I wasn't lying Eric ignored me completely it was almost as if I was invisible. He'd pass by me in the halls without a second glance. It didn't bother me much though because I didn't want any trouble.
"So if he didn't ignore you you'd like him?" She asked with an amused smile.
I opened my mouth to say something but the bell beat me to it and I was honestly glad. I began to walk away but still heard her yell "were not done with this conversation."
*****************
After P.E the day had gone by in a blur most of the students had slept during the class discreetly as if they had done something during P.E.
It was left with about twenty minutes before the last class ended and I had zoned out because the teacher was yaping on about something I had learnt back in London.I was brought back to reality with I heard the teachers loud voice.
"Okay class, I see you've gone back to your old ways. How many times do you people want us to tell you that this is a mixed school and we don't sit by the same gender" he yelled in annoyance.
The whole class groaned, some murmured and others seemed happy.
"Ah this man paa"
"Me I don't want to sit by any stinky boy oh"
"Chale I want fine girl oh"We moved to the front of the class with our belongings as the teacher assigned us to our seats according to the register.
"Adebayo Eric move to the window seat at the right side of the class," the teacher said
"Anderson Stella—"
Do you know that feeling you get when you miss a step while climbing down stairs. Yes! That feeling. That's what I just felt
"Sit in the middle seat of the next row to the right"
I let out a breathe I didn't even know I was holding and moved to my new seat.
At the end of the exercise I wanted to cry. It seemed like luck wasn't on my side anymore.
Nii was put by me.
Nii was the dirtiest person I had ever met, he was so disorganized it made me want to cry. To make matters worst Julie the gossip was put behind me.I packed my book hastily and begun to trek down the path towards the car pack.
"Hey!"
"Hey!, ei maame Stella, wait," Ama called behind me.
(Maame- ma'am/ madame)"What?" I asked
She gave me a sly smile " is it because of where you're sitting"I glared at her
"It is isn't it?"
I continued my walk toward the car park to find it filled with students and my mum no where to be found.
I dropped my bag on the wall and leaned against it.Ama climbed the wall effortlessly and sat on it, "come on it can't be that bad"
I stared at her eyes wide open like she was mad, who was I kidding this girl is insane.
" it can't be that bad?? Are you playing with me? You've been in this school with them longer that I have you know how they both are. I've been with them only ten minutes and I want to pull out all my hair" I groaned in frustration
"It won't be bad you know. You already have a round head bald look would suit you. You'd look like a Victorian secret angel" she said with her hands on her chin as though she was in deep though
I signed " I can't have a serious conversation with you can I?"
She gave me her signature bright smile and bounced of the wall
"Look, your mums here" she said slinging her bag on her shoulder and walking towards my mum
"And where do you think you're going" I asked following her
" to your mum of course" she said voicing as she got close"Hi mum"
"Hi Mrs. Anderson"
"Hello girls" my mum said
"You must be Ama" my mum continued
"Yes" Ama said happily
"I've heard a lot about you" mum said
"All good I hope" Ama said
They began to have a small conversation and
I walked around them and sat in the car.
Soon after my mum joined me and started the car
See you tomorrow Stella Ama said waving
I looked at her confused then looked at my mum to see her smiling widely at me.Took me long enough. This is my longest chapter you know? As you can tell it's not quiet edited sorry about that.
Ama is a whole vibe isn't she always happy. I like her
