Authors note❗️
Hey beautiful people,
Sorry for interrupting your reading but, there is a very very important question at the end of this chapter so please answer.
                                           •Thank you.

Saturday morning came rolling around. I laid in bed watching the ceiling as though it was the most fascinating thing in the room. Back home in London Saturday's and Sundays used to be family days but now mum had to work half a day on Saturday cause dad hadn't found a place to start his job yet.
I signed and got out of bed washed my face and begun to descend the stairs.
"Good morning", I greeted as I plopped down unto the couch.
"Good morning," my parents cooed
I looked up at both and saw that look of worry on their face
"What is it?" I asked.
"Stella we think you should start seeing a councilor again" mum said
"Mum no!"I yelled
"Stella-"
Dad put his hand on her shoulder and she kept quiet "let me handle this"he said

"Stella sweetie, we know you've been having nightmares again" he said
I opened my mouth to deny it but he beat me to  it.
"Don't you dare lie to us. We hear you tossing and turning and screaming. Hunny it's heartbreaking. You're seeing a councilor and that's the end."

I run upstairs as my vision began to blur. I cried and cried for hours and hours until there were no more tears. I eventually got tired took a shower and fell into deep slumber.

                       *****************
..she smiled at me but didn't stop walking. Her flawless chocolate skin glowed under the full moon. I tried to touch her but she slipped away. Suddenly everywhere was dark I could hear people laughing some crying out for help but I couldn't see anything. My heart kept on beating fast very fast until I couldn't take it anymore and screamed

"Shhh calm down Stella I'm here"dad said.
I wrap my arms around him and sobbed. He rubbed my back and kept telling me it will be okay. It didn't feel like it was going to be okay.

"Sweetie?"
I looked up to him.
"Go wash your face, your friend uh.. Nana Ama is here" I smiled at his attempt to pronounce her name and got up.

I looked horrible my eye were puffy and red. My entire face looked like a gaunt tomato to make things worst my throat hurt really bad. Ama really picked the wrong time to visit. I washed my face and  hoped she wouldn't notice I cried.

I walked down stairs to meet Ama and my dad having a conversation. This girl was something else.

"Hey sweetie, your friend here is hysterical" dad said

"Oh my,what happened to your face?" Ama asked with a look of concern

"It's nothing, I had an allergic reaction to something" I lied

"Okay"
Ama got up from where she sat I honestly thought she was about to scrutinize my face until she said " you look really ugly but it's okay you're still my friend" she walked away to the living room and threw her legs into the couch.

"Really, Ama are you serious?" I asked dumbfounded

"Oh dear Stella, if you want me to take you serious at least pronounce my name right. That accent makes everything ten times funnier"

We begun to talk about anything and everything until my dad called us to eat lunch. Today he had prepared Jollof with chicken and salad. Ama stuffed her mouth with spoon full of jollof and pushed it down with a class of juice before saying "
don't tell my mum but this is the best food I've ever eating. I want to take you home with me,will you fit in my bag?"We all laughed

"So Mr.Anderson what do you do for a living."

"First of all call me Thomas"

"Well it's very disrespectful to call an adult by their first name so I'll call you uncle Thomas deal?"
Dad laughed and responded "deal"

"I'm a chef"he responded

"Really, oh my Mr- uncle Thomas I'm definitely sending you home with me Ama cried out
"You're a funny one, you girls go up to the room and I'll clean up"

"Can we help?" Ama asked

"No you girls go"

"Mum would be mad at you if she was here", I said as we walked up the stairs.

"So....."

"Ama spit it out. What do you need"

"Okay(bounce) so(bounce) maybe (bounce)I(bounce) have (bounce ) something (bounce) to (bounce )say"

"Will you stop bouncing.Jezz, crazy girl"

She giggled "Okay okay. You know we're going on midterms right?"

"Yes go on"

"Okay so I was wondering if you could tutor me in English." She finished with an ear to ear grin.

"And what makes you think I can help you."

"Oh please, do you think I've not seen you in English class before. You never pay attention yet you do so well....aaanddd I also might have glanced at your book."

"Glance huh"
We all laughed. After we watched movies and talk for a while until Ama's phone begun to ring.

"Hey mum!"
....
"No! I can come on my own"
.....
"Please"
......
"Okay fine. Bye"

"Hey are you alright" I asked

"Yeah..uh I'm fine. My cousins coming for me"she smiled at me but, that smile didn't reach her eyes. It looked forced.

I signed "Okay.."

"Yeah..let me give you my number so that we can text later"she said

"That reminds me. How did you get here?"I asked

"Your mum"she said and pulled ou an iPhone 11.

"Okay I'll ask you about that phone later but now, I don't really know where my phone is,"I said

"Why??"

"So many reason. All I'll tell you is that it's distracting and social media is toxic"

We heard a honk at the gate and begun to walk down the stairs to the gate.

Ama looked at the car with a scowl on her face before waving goodbye.

I walked back into the house and into my room. Slowly I reached for the phone in the drawer and turned it on.

The very very important question❗️
Do you want faces to go with the characters or let your imagination do the work?

Stella has to see a councilor?

So there's something wrong with Ama and her cousin. How bad do you think it is that happy Ama didn't want him coming to pick her up.
