Brandy
I couldn't focus all day. Mr.Lockwood kept talking to me and nothing he said would register in my head. In one ear and out the other. He must think I'm some sort of idiot. I guess you could say that I was too busy thinking about how I might lose my apartment.
"Mandy."
"Mandy." They say again.
"Jesus Ms.Diamond! Did you even hear a word I said?"
Quickly looking up, Mr. Lockwood stares at me. I stood up just nodding my head. I didn't hear a word he said. Whoops! "Try listening harder. I'm not paying you to fantasize." He scolds me before returning to the meeting.
"S-sorry Mr.Lockwood. Won't happen again." I say softly.
A few laughed quietly as they all went back to facing Mr. Lockwood. Sitting in my little corner, by myself, I felt like crawling into a hole and just dying. "...I told you that she's a little slow." Someone teases.
The morning dragged on for what seemed to be hours. At this point, it was just words without any meaning. Right when the room when silent, my stomach growled quite loudly. Dropping my head, everyone looks back at me. I haven't eaten much lately. I had cheap ramen noodles when I could and whatever else I could find at the convenience store.
Mr. Lockwood simply mutters something under his breath. "Let's just break for lunch." He says. "Meet back here in two hours."
As everyone quickly gets up and dashes out of the room, I stayed seated. Mr. Lockwood sits back into the chair and lets out a groan. He has to be upset with me. Disturbing the meeting twice. Standing up and walked over to him. "...uh, is there-I can get you something to eat. I-I don't mind." I say as I clear my throat.
He just looks at me and then looks away. I frowned. Maybe he's not hungry. I was just about to leave the room when I felt a hand grab mine and pull me back. Turning around, Mr.Lockwood stood in front of me. Looking up at him, I didn't even realize how close he was to me, but he didn't even look like he cared. "...Mr.Lockwood...are-are you o-okay?" I asked.
My heart started to race. He still doesn't say anything. I tried pulling my hand back. "M-Mr.Lockwood. You have to let me go." I tell him. Only then he takes a step back releasing my hand.
Walking back to the table, he reaches into his jacket pocket. "Go get me something to eat. Anything that doesn't sound revolting." He says handing me his bank card.
A simple please and thank you would never hurt.
I hesitated to take it from him. Rolling his eyes, he takes my hand again and places the card into my palm. "Go! I'm hungry!" Mr. Lockwood exclaims.
Right away Mr. Lockwood."
That was a little weird. I waited for the elevator which seemed to take forever. "Brandy." A voice calls out. Looking behind, Ramia and Lia call me over toward them. I walked over to them. I haven't talked to them lately. I wonder what they want. "Hi, Brandy!" Lia says with a giant smile.
"Hi." I nod with a slight smile.
I didn't even say anything else. Both their friendly smiles disappear. "What the fuck is your deal?" Wendy came from around the corner.
Huh. "E-excuse me?"
Walking over to me, it felt as if she was towering over me. I couldn't move. Wendy keeps me cornered against the wall. "So first I fire you then you come waltzing back in and work for him. So tell me...how fast did it take for you to open your legs for him? Hmm?"
I froze. I couldn't speak. I don't understand what's going on. "W-what are y-you talking ab-about?"
Wendy laughs. "Look here, Brandy. Everyone knows that you slept with Mr.Lockwood just to get your job back, but instead, you're his personal assistant now."
