Knock knock
(I know, its been a month since I last updated. But so much is going on, I can't even summarise it. )
A cute little highschool crush one-shot
-
"Look who's there, sitting at the back!" Stan whisper-shouted smirking at Louis. Louis simply grinned, fixing his hair subconsciously as he watched the boy sitting silently at his desk, curls covering his face from sight.
"Today's the day, Stan." Louis murmured, adrenaline coursing through his body. "I'm going to ask him."
"Been a month since you started saying that lad." Stan snorted sitting back down at his desk. "Anytime soon then?"
"I'm waiting for the right time and today feels like it." Louis puffed his chest up dramatically, a stupid lopsided grin on his face when he managed to catch Harry's eye and gave him an enthusiastic wave. Harry shyly ducked his head back down, deflating his ego drastically.
"Not going to be that easy." Stan snickered patting his shoulder. "But don't worry, I've plenty of ideas."
"You know, I'm starting to think it was a bad idea asking you of all people for help." Louis muttered as Stan scratched out what felt like the thousandth plan. Stan shushed him, feeling pretty lucky as a matchmaker for his best mate.
They'd tried arguably every trick out of the book to get Harry's attention over the course of two weeks and so far Louis didn't feel any better than he did when they started. True, it probably was his fault for chickening out in the last minute out of nerves for more than half the plans, but that really wasn't the point here. The point was that Louis, handsome football team captain and adored by the whole school, couldn't ask his one and only crush Harry, a quiet and beautiful backbencher to prom.
"Okay, plan number gods-knows-which." Stan exclaimed clapping his hands together with a determined look on his face as they stood outside their classroom before morning classes. "I'm certain it's going to work."
"Really?" Louis rolled his eyes and readying himself for the great plan, sarcastically speaking. "I just know this is going to work, you know, since it's the hundredth plan. Hundred times the charm huh?"
"Shut up, I know this one's going to work." Stan said cooly. "I've found the common flaw in all them other plans. Don't you want to know?"
"Oh, I don't know mate. I really d-"
"Sit your ass down." Stan rolled his eyes. "We need to find out more about Harry, obviously. What he likes, his interests and stuff so accordingly we form a great extravaganza just the way he likes it!"
"Or no extravaganza, if he's not into the whole 'bigger is better'." Louis mumbled slowly getting the point. "But, do you think he's going to go to prom with a complete stranger? I mean, we haven't talked at all even though we know each other so.."
Stan raised his brow, shaking his hand in an after-motion.
"..so I get to know him." Louis smiled finally getting it. "Prom date's been getting pushed further and further, so I have time-"
"What are you wasting your time for? Come on!" Stan shouted pushing him back to the classroom. "You can thank me in the wedding speech!"
"Wait what, it's not THAT easy I would have done that earlier on if I could! I-I need to practice what I'm going to say I can't just- Stan, stop!-"
It was too late though and Louis shut himself up as Stan pushed him right in front of Harry's desk, slightly bumping it and startling the quiet lad who was writing his notes. Louis held in a soft gasp as bright green eyes looked up at him curiously, fingers brushing back a curl from his pale face. All of his vocabulary of pick-up lines and basic sentences flew out of his head as he gave him a shy smile, waiting expectantly for him to speak.
