I sat in my seat at the back row of the classroom, listening to Professor Quinn ramble on about the unsolved mysteries on this earth. Looking out the window I drowned out everything he said. I would much rather space off than have to listen to Professor Quinn, also known as the worlds most boring person, drone on and on about unimportant crap.

My mind was racing with thoughts about that dream. Why the hell did it feel so realistic? Why can't I stop thinking about it? More importantly, why couldn't I stop thinking about that mysterious golden-eyed guy? Cringing I shake my head, trying to actually pay attention to what Mr. Boring Arse was teaching us.

"Ms. Rose?"

"What?" I snap, looking up at Quinn.

"I asked you, what possible mistake could the first emperor, Shi Huangdi, had made that led the Qin Dynasty to their demise?" Quinn asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well- uh..." I desperately search my mind for answers, coming up empty handed. "Well what he could of done to lead them to their demise could be the fact that Shi Huangdi was just stupid. I mean come on, who would call themselves Huangdi and get them self killed by drinking mercury."

Professor Quinn turned his back to me. "Wrong, Ms. Rose. See me after class." Crap.

I glare at his back and begin speaking through gritted teeth. "Yes Professor Quinn."

As he continue's on his stupid ramble, the guy behind me hands me a note. "It's for you." He says, leaving me staring at the folded up note.

At this point I couldn't help but feel annoyed. Of course it's not unusual for me to get notes in this class, I usually got at least two a day. Something about this note was different though. I unfold the note and begin to read it. "Kate, I'm watching you, Love K."

What the hell?! I look around the room, finding the note creepy, I turn back to the guy behind me. "Excuse me, I think you handed this to the wrong person."

He gives me a confused look. "I didn't hand you anything."

"Uh yes you did."

"Nope I'm pretty sure you got the wrong guy."

Getting really ticked off I raise my voice, "You liar," my inner demons rearing their ugly heads at him.

"Kate stay for detention after class." Professor Quinn spoke up, making me look over at him, shooting daggers at his back. If they were real they would definitely kill him. "Keep glaring at me all you want Ms. Kate but it wont get you anywhere."

My anger became shock. How in the world did he see me glaring at him from behind his back? He then began to continue his boring lecture as if nothing just went down.

After what seemed like hours, the bell rang and everyone rushed out of the classroom as quickly as possible. I had to just sit there and wait no matter how much I wanted to leave and go home.

"Kate do you know why I had told you to stay for detention?" Professor Quinn asked, looking me in the eye.

"Well let's see Quinn, you told me to stay because I wasn't paying attention to your stupid lecture and I had yelled at the guy behind me." I replied, sarcasm dripping from my lips like venom.

He sighs, "Kate, why do you make this hard on yourself? Ever since your parents died you changed into who you are now," leaning against his desk.

"Is that a bad thing, because if so I changed for the better." I growl.

"I'm just trying to help you."

"No your acting like my parent when your not!" I grab my book-bag and run out of the classroom not wanting to hear anymore. As I ran out of the classroom, I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw Quinn's face change to a very sad one, watching me as I went.

Getting out of the school was definitely my top priority. I stopped running when I finally reached the forest.

"Why won't people stop bringing back the harsh reminder that they're dead?  At least in here I won't be reminded of it." I walked into the forest, going deeper and deeper in with each step.

Taking a break from walking I sit down and pull my knees to my chest, my back against a tree trunk, crying like I haven't done in a while.

"Hey are you okay?" A male voice calls over to me, slowly coming closer.

"I'm fine..." I reply trying not to sound upset.

"Are you sure?" The guy asks.

"I'm fine...really, I just want to be left alone." I stand up and go to move away from the guy, only to trip over a root and get caught by nicely built arms.

"I gotcha Kate." He pulls me back up.

I look up at the guy and it's then that I realize who saved me, Matthew. My cheeks redden even more.

"Why are you crying Kate?" He wipes away my tears in a gentle way as if I'm a precious fragile flower that could be broken if touched.

I reply quietly, "that's my secret. Why are you here Matthew," looking him in the eye.

"Well I love to be here, this is my favorite place to be. Especially when I get to be here with a cute girl." Releasing his hold around my waist, he winks.

"You're kidding me, right? I'm not cute and nor will I ever be." I begin to walk with him.

"I'm not kidding Kate, you're beautiful." He speaks in a serious tone, watching me.

At a loss of words I walk silently next to him, my face as red as a ripe strawberry.

I walk into the front door of my house. "I'm home Sarah."

"I was beginning to wonder if you'd show up or not. You weren't even answering your phone." Sarah spoke, walking over to me.

"You were calling my phone?" I pull my phone out of my pocket and check to find ten missed calls from Sarah. "I'm so sorry Sarah, I had my phone on silent this whole time."

"It's okay just got me a little worried Kate." Sarah walks into the kitchen. "By the way one of your Professors called earlier, I believe he said that his name was Quinn."

"Yeah well he's treating me like he's my dad and I smacked him in the the face with the reality that he's not. So end of story." I shrug, leaning against the marble kitchen counter.

"They just want to help you Kate." Sarah replies.

"But I don't need them to." I walk away from the kitchen and head up to my room, my mind scrambling all around the place.

I begin to think about the events that happened in the woods with Matthew. How sweet of him. I smile. How had I met someone like him in my life?
