A/N - I apologize for not updating, I had a lot to do as I'm a college student and due to Covid-19 I have online classes. My parents and baby brother also just were tested positive for it this morning and now I'm in isolation. But I'm back and I hope you enjoy reading this chapter. :)
"What are you doing? Just drop it on the ledge." Manny said to Sid, who puts the baby up and he started crawling. Y/n had a sense of worry for the baby, she guessed it was a motherly instinct.
"Should we make sure they found him?" Sid queried, causing Manny and Y/n to look at the sloth before Manny suddenly smirked mischievously.
"Good idea," Manny answered.
Y/n observed as Manny grabbed Sid by the neck and tossed him up towards the hill. She heard Sid yell something along the lines of sparing him. "Oh, this is the problem," Sid told the duo nervously, causing Manny and Y/n to approach the sloth.
"Now, what?" Manny asked, annoyed before they saw that no one was there. " Aww, that's perfect." He groaned.
Y/n examined everything, sniffing around, and saw that the scent was faint but still there. She watched as the baby tries to touch something up high but then trips and then crawls and hides in the bowl as Sid approaches. "Hey, hey, hey." Sid walks until the stick knocks him out, causing Y/n to let out a snicker.
As for Manfred, he was checking out what was left of the campsite. Tents were destroyed and objects were scattered. Manfred stopped upon the baby to look into where he slept last night. Reminded of his mother, he cuddled with it before turning to Manfred. Manfred looked down on the baby somberly as he slid into his basket again.
"I told you they were gone." Diego's voice was heard from behind them. Oh, he just had to appear, Y/n thought to herself.
"Well, look who it is. Don't you have some poor defenseless animal to disembowel?" Manny groaned out.
"They couldn't be far. I mean, they went this way or this way?" Sid mumbled to himself as he walked through the group. Y/n watched Sid with amusement as he tried to detect where the humans could've gone to.
" You don't know much about tracking, do you?" Diego stated.
"Hey, I'm a sloth. I see a tree, eat a leaf, that's my tracking." Sid responded as he snapped a stick in half.
"You didn't miss them by much." Diego said as he inspected a stick, "It's still green. They headed north 2 hours ago." Diego finished as he looked at the group.
Sid sticks a couple of twigs in his mouth, pretending to be Diego, "Hey, it's still green, they headed north 2 hours ago." Sid mocked, causing Y/n to let out a quiet giggle.
The baby laughs and flings a fish at Manny's face since he fell backward. Manny furrowed his eyebrows and took the fish out of his face with an unamused expression. "You don't need this aggravation. Give me the baby. I can track humans down a lot faster than you can." Diego compromised as he walked behind the baby.
"And you're just a good citizen helping outright?" Manny said blankly, not buying Diego's words, "Besides we've Y/n, she's a saber too." Y/n felt proud that Manny gestured to her.
"I just know where the humans are going," Diego replied as he pulled the baby towards him.
"Glacier Pass," Y/n spoke, causing the two males to look at her. "Everybody knows they have a settlement on the other side." She concluded with a small smirk. Manny picks the baby up and places him in front of Y/n.
"Well, unless you know how to track, you'll never reach them before the pass closes up with snow. Which should be like tomorrow. So, you can give that baby to me, or go get lost in the blizzard. It's your choice." Diego told her, making Y/n growl with annoyance.
I don't trust him, he smells fishy like he's up to no good, Y/n thought.
Manny glances in between the two sabers before he picked the baby up in his truck and passed him over Diego's head (he looked ready to grab a hold of him) and into Sid's arms. Y/n was relieved that Manny didn't pass the baby over to the other saber; she didn't trust him.
"Here's your little bundle of Joy. We're returning it to the humans." Manny said before he started to walk away, with Y/n following after him.
"Awww, the big bad tigey-wigey gets left behind. Poor Tigey-Wigey." Sid cooed as he rubbed Diego's nose.
"Sid, 'Tigey-Wigey' is gonna lead the way," Manny stated from the front, causing Diego to smirk at Sid's now-pale face.
"Uh, uh, Manny, can I- can I- can I talk to you for a second?" Sid asked as he started to walk faster towards the two mammals. "No. The sooner we find the humans, the sooner I get rid of Mr. Stinky Drool-face. And the baby too." Manny told him bluntly.
"You won't always have Jumbo around to protect you. And when that day comes, I suggest you watch our back... 'cause I'll be chewing on it." Diego whispered to Sid as he stalked around the scared Sloth.
"Hey, upper tracker up front where I can see you," Manny called out to Diego, and Y/n saw him coming over to walk in the front beside her.
Y/n still wasn't sure about Diego, why was he alone and why did he want the baby. Y/n didn't know what to think but she knew that she'll protect Manny, Sid, and the baby if anything dangerous happens. She promises herself that.
