“Logaaaaaaaannn” Patton started to whine.

“No.” Logan said, cutting off Patton.

“But-“ he pouted “you didn’t even hear what I was gonna ask!”

Logan sighed and adjusted his glasses. He closed the book he had been reading before his friend interrupted him and looked him in the eyes before saying “You were going to ask if I would join you and Dr. Picani in your, how did you say it again? Ah yes ‘A glasses club trio thing' if I remember correctly.”

“Why don’t you want to join? Emile said he would and we could all have so much fun! Come on kiddo I’m sure you’d like it if you gave it a try.” Patton tried persuading Logan, while messing with his hair a bit, which made him shake his head before speaking.

“The reason is simple. Such a club has no logical reason to exist. Clubs mostly exist for people who share their interests to partake in conversations and activities about said topic. A club whose sole purpose is to gather people who wear glasses make no sense. What even is your plan? To have us all comment on each other’s glasses’ frames? It doesn’t sound like a very interesting past time to me and I would rather spend time doing more productive things.”

Patton’s eyes showed a hint of sadness for a second before he shook it off but this didn’t go unnoticed by Logan.

He decided to keep trying to convince his friend. “Why don’t you treat is as some sort of research. To see if a club like that could end up being fun or not?”

Logan paused for a bit, it wasn’t the research mention that got to him, but the thought that he might be hurting Patton's feelings. He decided to give in. “Fine. I’ll try going to the club.”

Patton's smile could light up a whole room after he heard that. He hugged Logan tightly. “Our next meeting is Friday at 4pm okay? You’re gonna see you’ll love it” he then let go and ran off somewhere.

Logan wasn’t minimally interested in the club, but seeing Patton so happy made it feel a bit more worth it. He bit his lip to hold back a smile and picked up his book once more.

By the time Friday came, Logan was dreading his choice. He had been searching up facts about glasses on the days prior but somehow he had a feeling that those wouldn’t be very interesting to his peers. His mind was so absorbed in thoughts that he didn’t notice Patton coming.

“Logan! Are you ready yet? Meeting is about to start.” Logan was startled by him but quickly regained composure and adjusted his tie out of reflex.

He avoided the question, not wanting to admit the small nervousness he was feeling. “What’s that you’re carrying?”

“Oh, this?” He said, shaking the plastic box in his hands. “These are cookies for the club. Come on, let’s go!”

He followed Patton into Emile’s office. Apparently that’s where the club happened. He had to admit that the room was rather cosy.

“Hey Logan. Glad you made it.” Emile smiled.

“Patton finally managed to persuade me by persisting too much.” Logan said light-heartedly and smiled back politely.

“I brought cookies! Do you still have tea, Emile?” Patton asked, placing the box down in a small table.

“Already brewing it.” Emile responded and proceeded to open the box of cookies. They were shaped and glazed in order to look like glasses. He picked one up and took a bite out of it. “Wow Pat, you really went above and beyond with these ones. They’re pretty and delicious.”

Patton smiled and thanked him as Emile went back to get the tea.

“So, I did some research before joining today. Were you aware that Benjamin Franklin, due to being both far- and near-sited and tired on continuously changing glasses, invented bifocal lenses?”

“Oh, that’s really interesting.” A playful smile escaped Patton's lips “But, Logan, you don’t actually think we come here to only talk about glasses, do you?”

Logan furrowed his eyebrows “Isn’t that the whole purpose of this club? You told me this was a glasses club.”

Emile came back with the tea “The club was made with the intention of being about the sides who wear glasses but we mostly just chat and relax. We talk about ourselves, the other sides, anything we want to, basically.” This made Logan blush in embarrassment over having done so much research.

“Speaking of other sides, did you guys hear the fight Roman and Virgil had the other day? It seemed like they were close to killing each other.” Patton sipped his tea carefully as to not burn himself.

“How could we not  have heard it? I’m sure everyone did, they were screaming at each other.” Logan added, forgetting the nerves that were taunting him earlier.

“Yeah I definitely heard it. Anyone who doesn’t know them wouldn’t even believe they’re best friends.” Emile was twirling the tea in his cup, not daring to drink it while it was hot, unlike Patton.

“I didn’t understand what the fight was about in the first place.” Logan directed this at Patton.

“Oh okay so, the short version is, Virgil put his jacket to wash and when it came out, it was full of glitter. He went to Roman and got mad at him for doing that to his jacket while Roman denied that he had anything to do with it. Virgil was on the brink of tears and an anxiety attack so I asked him to show us why he thought that and to take us with him. We went back to the washing machine and turns out Roman, whose clothes were being washed at the same time, left a bunch of glitter in his pocket and forgot about it.”

“Oh poor Virgil.” Picani said before joking a bit “Did Roman apologize or do I need to appointment for a couples therapy session?”

“Not only did he apologize but he also managed to get the glitter of Virgil’s jacket. That was enough to set things right between them ‘cause next thing I know, they’re having a Disney marathon in Roman’s room” Patton smiled proudly.

As the conversation went on, Logan found himself enjoying being there more and more. He had to admit it was relaxing to just sit down with some tea and cookies and have a casual chat with two of his friends. He didn’t even notice the hours pass by.

Dr. Picani looked at his watch “Well this was lovely once again but do you guys mind if we wrap things up? It’s already 7:30 and I have an appointment in half an hour.”

“Same time next week then.” Patton smiled while getting up. “How did you enjoy it Logan?”

“I must admit it was quite pleasant. Although I do wish I could’ve presented all the things about glasses I researched.”

“How about this” Emile looked at him “If you come back next week, you can tell us all about them.”

“It’s a plan then. I suppose I will officially join your glasses club”

Patton squealed in happiness. They said their goodbyes and left.

Once Patton and Logan got back, they saw Janus, Roman and Virgil sitting on the couch.

“So Logan,” Virgil spoke “How did the club go? Decided to join?”

“As a matter of fact I did” he said seriously “I must admit it was quite an enjoyable experience.” He smiled a bit involuntarily.

“Yes! Pay up you two. Told y’all he was a softie.” Virgil held out his hands for the other two who groaned before giving him a 5 dollar bill each.

Logan chose to ignore this interaction, as he was too used to the others antics, and went back to his bedroom.

He was glad for some alone time for himself but at the same time, he felt himself having to hold back the excitement he got from the idea of the next meeting.
