Chapter 15

Jillian’s P.O.V

“I’m home!” I shout as I open up the front door to my house. After Ross started holding my hand I never let go until just five minutes ago. We walked al the way down the street and back. Then my brother Jonny saw us and it was getting late, so I had to go home. “Who was he?” Asks Nick, who sits on the couch playing video games. Wow, finally something snapped him out of his trance! “Yeah, and why were you holding hands?” Jonny joins in, putting down the controller, looking me strait in the face. “One of those guys you brought snowboarding with you.” I fire back, taking off my flip flops and putting them in the closet. “Oh, yeah, I told you he looked familiar, Nick!” goes Jonny. “Shut up!” says Nick. I swiftly sneak away while I can, and go up to my room. The ocean looks really pretty at night. But.. What the hell is that sound. I hear something hitting my balcony door, so I open it up and nearly get chucked in the face with a decent sized rock. “Who the hell??” “Down here!” I hear someone say as I look down at the street. I see Ross standing there. If I didn’t know any better I thought I would have been in Romeo and Juliet. “What next do you want to be all like, “oh Romeo, oh Romeo,” I shout down, starting to laugh at my own stupid joke. “That would be nice if you did.” I start to crack up, and lean over the balcony looking down at Ross. “What re you doing here?” I ask, trying to keep my voice down so my brothers wouldn’t here. Not that they would, they’re blasting their video games downstairs. Those idiots. “I wanted to see you again. Come on down,” he says, motioning for me to come down. “Fine. I’ll be there in a second.”

As I tiptoe downstairs I try hard not to get caught by my brothers who are shouting and yelling at the T.V screen. Right when my hand is about the touch the doorknob Nick asks, “Where are you going?” I turn around, in my head saying ‘Dam so close’. “That’s none of your business,” I tell him, slamming the door shut behind me before he could retort. When I get out I run up to Ross pushing him far away from my house. I just don’t want my brothers to see him, or unless he’s strong enough to fight two teenage boys older than him, I don’t want him getting hurt. “Hi,” I say, almost out of breath. “Hey,” he says, wrapping his arms around my waist. Part of me is saying ‘Hello!? Jillian! Get him off of you!’ and the other part is saying ‘just let him hold you, Jillian.’ I just blush a little, taking the risk of placing my head on his chest. Right then I find a light placed right on us, and I see my brothers shinning a flash light at us from their bedroom on the third story. “Shit!” I exclaim, taking Ross by the hand, pulling him as far as I could to the beach until we reach the ocean. I see my brothers running after us, screaming at me with flash lights in their hands. The lights beam and jump all over the beach trying to spot us. “I’m soooo sorry about them!” I say, looking for a place to hid in the darkness of the night. “It’s fine, it’s fine. Where do we go?” He asks, holding me near him. “Uh- um… THE WATER!” I say, pulling him with me as we go deeper into the water. We scramble into the ocean, going further and further out until I can no longer hear or see my brothers. I come up from under the water, catching my breath. “That was close. Are you okay?” Ross asks, moving my hair out of my face. “Fine.”

I just think that maybe telling Ross I wasn’t such a great swimmer would have been a good idea before we swam out this far…
