"They debuted"
Words that might sound insignificant, but they meant alot to us.
JK talked about YGs new girl group:BLACKPINK
My members with me included are all fans of YG and it's artist that worked there. Big Bang and 2ne1 were big acts in Korea but also globally. Everyone looks up to them. But ever since Bom from 2ne1 went through the scandal, did YG restricted the group's activity alot. There are even several rumors occurring that some members are considering to leave the company. So ever since YG announced to debut a new girl group did the general public react harshly towards the news. Us included. Not that we weren't happy about their debut, but we were kinda concerned if it was the right timing. Because of the current state of 2ne1. The girl group will for sure face alot of hardships.
A couple of months ago did the company released the group's name and the names of the members. It was a small group with only 4 members, same as 2ne1. I remember that three of them had forgein names.
They also released a dance video of them last month and we all could see their huge potential. It was exciting. But since we were caught up in our work did we all forget their debut day.
Even tho I really wanted to see their debut, couldn't I stop myself thinking about the conversation I held with Jimin earlier. He was finally opening up and now did I lost this opportunity.I looked to Jimin who held a conversation with JK. He really wanted to see their debut. He knew one of the members of Blackpink.
Jennie.
He knew her since he met her once when she was performing with GD a couple of years ago. Our schedules overlapped with GD and we had the chance to meet him for a short time and Jennie. But only Jimin and RM had the chance to see her.
They also exchanged numbers secretly but they lost contact, after one of her managers found out about it.But after it was revealed that she was a member of Blackpink did Jimin suddenly became all hyped up about the group's debut.
"So it was today, huh?", did Jimin say.
JK nodded passionately.
"Then how about watching their debut songs while we're having break?", did Jimin suggested. JK agreed right away. Namjoon and Jin were
busy discussing something with our choreographer and Suga went to the toilet. So it was only JK, Jimin, Hobi and me left.
We asked one of our managers if he could lend his laptop to us.Shortly after our manager gave us his laptop did we all placed ourself infront of the display. It didn't took long till we started to play their first track "Whistle".
My members and me expected an upbeat sound, since most YG artist would debut with bangers. But was the sound of Whistle surpringly calm and minimalistic. What of course wasn't bad, but rather unique. Nonetheless did the song delivered amazing raps and vocals. And according to Hoseok were the rap parts executed perfectly. He was especially impressed with the girl who had bangs. YG was problably the only company which could create groups who would be both talented in singing and rapping. The dance that was shown in the MV also looked great. It was refreshing to see a girlgroup with a Girl Crush concept again. The past years were most girlgroups more cutesy and girly, what I don't judge, but it was kinda overused.
After we finished Whistle did we all looked at each other.
"The girl who hit the high notes towards the end, who is that?", did Jimin ask immediately after the the video ended.
"Rosé is her name I think, but I'm not sure..", did JK answer . Jimin looked at him with a sceptical look.
"Like Rosè Pasta?", did Jimin asked JK in disbelieve, while furrowing his eyebrows. JK nodded after he looked up their names on Naver."The girl who rapped at the beginning was Jennie. Rosé is the one with the high notes. Jisoo is the one who said 'shh'. And Lisa is the one with the bangs.", did JK explained to us. JK then suddenly raised his eyebrows as if he was remembering something.
"Ahhh I see.. I think BamBam once told me that Lisa is a close friend of his. A childhood friend, I believe...", he explained again while scratching his exposed forehead.
"How could you forget that", did Hobi ask. JK shrugged.
"I thought he said Yolisa(Chef)and believed that he was actually talking about a chef. But it makes more sense after seeing this.", did he say. We all laughed and moved on to their next track "Boombayah".
Boombayah was the total opposite of Whistle. It was a hardcore EDM song. I like this song more than Whistle. Problably because I like these types of songs more.
The vocals, the rap of the girl with bangs, basically everything was my style. Not to mention how catchy the chorus is. I could say that I was a sucker for Boombayah.
"They are truly no joke.", did Hosoek say.
He was right, both of their songs were bangers. And they are already topping the charts.Honestly, what did we expect from YG?
"I can't wait to see them in the future. Especially Jennie. I havent seen her for years.", did Jimin say.
Yeah, I also want see them. They are going to be big for sure.
