I sat in the judge's chambers listening to a prosecutor whine about a motion that was denied. I could relate to this prosecutor; I had been exactly where he was. Over worked and tired, and your staff is the exact same way, so you dropped the ball, and I beat you to something crucial in a trial.
"Please reconsider," He said letting out a sigh.
"Sorry, I will not. You had more than enough time." The judge looked at me. I gave a quick smile as Antonio interjected.
"Is that all for the afternoon? Can we be dismissed, your honor?" he asked with a smile. She nodded and we headed for breakfast. I was supposed to be meeting my fiancé for lunch at the Ritz of all the places. It feels weird that I had slept with another woman there and now I was going back to eat lunch with my fiancé. I was being careless and should have insisted on somewhere else. But I was here now and I was hungry.
I was expecting Pam to have a bunch of bridal books but she shocked the hell out of me. Just me and her and she introduced me to a wedding planner. I see Pam wasn't wasting anytime. The planner was a middle aged super southern white man, with a dramatic drawl. Made me wonder was my southern drawl this strong? But I listened as he blazed thru his pricing and fees.
"Are we having a budget?" he said looking at Pam.
"Hell yeah." I said before I knew it. The three of us laughed.
"Give me a range Mr. Monroe." He said leaning back.
"Well what's your minimum?"
"35k."
"Well my minimum is 50k and I don't wanna spend anymore than 200k" I said looking at Pam. She looked a little sad. $200,000 was enough.
"Victor, my wedding in 79 was $80,000." she said as if I gave a damn.
"Well, you're also renovating a multimillion dollar home, decorating it, and putting the girls in private school. We need a budget." I said looking at the planner.
"Ok. Six figures, I know we can get what you want Pam. That is a significant amount of money." he said. As they talked about shit that I just didn't care about or even thought about, I watched the front door. I watched as Pam's best friend showed up. I liked her Versace shirt but I wouldn't tell her that or even stare that long. She would only accuse me of wanting her.
Romanda has never been ugly, that's obvious. She was a superstar. Men wanted to have sex with her and women wanted to be her. She was 5'10 like Pam and top heavy. They both had nice hips, but Romanda definitely didn't have ass like her sister Shane. I never had sex with Shane. She was the first and only woman I felt intimidated by. Shane was nice and sweet. She was direct about what she wanted from any man, and I knew I couldn't give those things to her back then. But she and I formed a crazy friendship. Everyone thinks that Pam's connections got me internships and recommendations, but it was Shane. Pam's connections were loyal to Pam's parents and they didn't wanna help me.
I watched as Romanda greeted the planner, they shared a joke that I missed because Rena's fine ass walked into the dining room. She was having a seat with some tall goofy looking guy. Was this the guy she thought could replace me? He was wearing gray wool suit in September. I laughed as she sat down and patted his sweating forehead. He removed his suit jacket and then he remembered to kiss her. The seemed awkward. Rena wasn't awkward, she was a little chocolate minx. I see she was slicker than most. That's why I was marrying Pam, she would never cheat on me. She had cheated on Curtis because he was a dork, he was that guy sitting with Rena.
