Austin's jet landed at 6 AM. The sun was rising and shining brightly into my eyes. I threw on my shades and carefully walked down the stairs of the jet. I chugged down a bottle of Pedialyte and got into the waiting town car. My assistant was inside, waiting with some migraine meds. I was hungover from my bachelor party. It wasn't much to write about. I didn't have a need to cut loose one more time before our ceremony. I did what I wanted anyhow. My boys and I went to Vegas for some high roller gamblin, cigars, and a fight. Of course, we went to a strip club afterwards, and of course the women wanted to spend the night with me. I declined, but I let my boys get a turn. That's why I'm shocked to be hungover. I was drinking the entire weekend, but I don't recall being fall down drunk. I guess it was the constant flow of drinks that had me hungover.
The driver dropped me at a hotel that was a few blocks from the church. The Olympics had the city packed and what was a 10 minute ride from our house, was now more like an hour. I entered the suite and suits were in garment bags with appropriate, names on them. My uncle was waiting for me in the sitting area of the living room. He had been in Houston, running his shop, and according to him staying out of trouble with me. He was right. My unc was finally married to a woman he loved. He married her about 8 years ago. Pam was super pregnant with the twins and his wife was so nice to her. My unc was a completely different man with her. That's why I've been hesitating in marrying Pam for so long. I had been awaiting this great transformation, but it never came. I just knew that I should marry Pam, it was the right thing to do.
I greeted my uncle with a strong handshake. He embraced me with a hug and then he patted my shoulder.
"You look like shit." He said laughing. I laughed with him. "But you smell like money." he said. I was looking for Michelle, his wife. "She's with Pam of course. Let's get you trimmed up before your boys get here." he said. A few moments later he was cutting my hair into a nice fade. I had been letting the curls grow and just keeping my hairline neat. He was the only person I allowed to cut my hair. He had taught me how to cut hair, and was the barber in Houston, to me at least.
I told him about the abortion and how she used my cheating as a justification in why she was going through with it. He stopped the clippers.
"Nephew how do you feel? The world gone make you feel all sorts of crazy, but what are your real feelings?" He asked. I sat quiet and pondered my own thoughts.
"I feel like I deserve it. I can't be faithful to her. It's like I know what's right, but I just have to." I said ashamed.
"You're searching for the one. Believe it or not life sends you all sorts of weird signals. It's a reason you wanted to be a damn dawg when you pledged in college, and when you got to the snooty ass law school, you descended into a Wolf. You're a wolf son. I think every man is more animal like than he would like to believe. You're mating, and making offspring, but you haven't imprinted on a woman. That's what I got with Michelle. That's why I just changed over night. She's the woman that was meant for me. She's the woman that was encoded in my DNA. You see her and she's all that matters." He said dusting the hairs from my neck.
"You think I'm doing the right thing?" I asked confused as hell.
"Yes. You said it yourself, nobody deserves this more than Pam. That girl gave you a life when you were in Cambridge. But your behavior is real familiar, I've definitely seen this story before." he said starting his shaving mix.
"What the fuck?" I asked mad. What kinda shit is that to drop on somebody on their wedding day?
"Nigga, get married. You got all these people here. Pam deserves it, you don't marry her today, your daughters will hate you forever." My unc said laughing a bit. Xavier came in and he wanted a cut. He had been married and I asked for his advice.
