Annoying

Draco's alarm clock went off at exactly six o'clock in the morning, just like it does every day. Draco was a top student, so he always woke up one hour before breakfast to prepare himself and make sure everything was in place. And he's never had a problem with it, but today he wanted to lay in bed for the rest of his life because it was the first day of two long weeks of detention with the boy he hated the most—Harry Potter. After five minutes he groaned and got up. Malfoy showered, got dressed, made sure his books were in order, checked his schedule, and went down to the common room where he met Zabini.

"Why are you so late?"

"I overslept"

"You overslept? huh, curious"

"I- Where are Crabbe and Goyle?"

Zabini just shrugged.

"And Pansy?"

"No idea, wanna go eat breakfast?"

"uh-huh"

They walked to the Great Hall while talking about the classes they were going to take. When they arrived, Draco automatically looked over to the Slytherin table expecting to see Pansy, Crabbe, and Goyle waving at him. But they weren't, why weren't they there? Draco was used to having them all over him all the time so it was pretty weird not seeing them around, it might have even worried him a little. It was pretty different having Zabini as company, but it wasn't bad at all. Zabini actually had a will of his own, so he didn't say "yes Draco" to everything Malfoy said. And another plus was that Zabini never mentioned Harry, not once, as he had more important things to think about. While Pansy, Crabbe, and Goyle brought up Harry every time they wanted Draco's attention, which was actually self-defeating. They finished their breakfast, an orange juice, and a half pancake, in silence.

"Let's go to charms"

"Okay"

Draco spent the whole day with Zabini. Pansy, Crabbe, and Goyle didn't appear to any class. All day was kind of boring, as every interaction with Zabini was dry and too formal. After charms they went to transfiguration, then history of magic, and finally they were going to herbology. Herbology was their last class of the day, so Draco could feel how the dreaded detention was approaching. To make it all more dramatic, Slytherin hadn't had any class with Gryffindor, and Draco hadn't run into Harry at any moment of the day. So detention would be the first time in all day he saw him.

"I hope you had a good day students, today we are going to review the uses of Mandrakes"

Draco rolled his eyes, he had already studied Mandrakes and knew all their magical uses and purposes. So he just stared at the clock, groaning with every mortifying minute. After an explanation about this plant that felt eternal, Professor Sprout handed out pop quizzes, Draco finished his in 2 minutes and continued to stare at the clock. All the other Slytherins couldn't believe he had finished the quiz so fast. Slytherins were relatively smart, but this speed wasn't normal.

"Everybody keep your eyes on your exam"

Draco didn't even notice Professor Sprout's reminder to the class was because everyone was looking at him. He was just really immersed in his thoughts, Why is he always looking for ways to damage Harry? Where were Crabbe, Goyle, and Pansy? Why was detention with Harry so mortifying? Why was Harry so annoying? Harry, Harry, Harry, why did his life revolve around Harry? Why did thinking about his father hurt so much? Why did he always feel alone? Why has he never expressed his feelings out loud? Why hadn't Draco made his peace with his parents being death eaters? He hated mudbloods, so why didn't he like what the Dark Lord was doing?

"The class is over, have a good afternoon, bye"

Draco knew he was not going to have a good afternoon, at all.
