(A/N: sorry nonbruins fans, home/favorite team get the first one)
"(Y/N) just let him go. I know you two were engaged but him cheating on you should be a relief. Imagine if he did that while you were married." Your best friend says. She wasn't the most sympathetic person but you needed to forget what had happened between you and your ex-fiancé and she always wanted a night out. She had taken you to her favorite bar where hockey players came after their games, hoping to get you back out there.
"I know," You drop your head and stare absentmindedly into you drink which you had hardly taken a sip of, tears threatening to spill from your eyes.
"Don't look now (Y/N) but there's someone someone coming this way!" She wagged her eyebrows at you and smiled.
"Hey baby," you hear as you lift your head up and are staring straight into the darkest brown eyes you've ever seen.
"Hi," your best friend says, dangling her cleavage in front of him as you sit there speechless. "And you are?" She smiles seductively.
"Milan" the word leave your mouth before you have time to think about it.
Milan looks away from her chest and back at you, his mind clearly trying to figure out if he knew you or not. You brush your hair behind your ear to reveal a scar on your forehead that he caused with a hockey puck, hoping to trigger his memory. "Oh my, (Y/N)!" He quickly wraps you in a hug and hold you for a while. "I almost didn't recognize you! How long has it been?"
"Seventeen years since I moved Toronto, so about fifteen since I last saw you." You smile for the first time in weeks. You hadn't realized how much you had missed Milan.
"You two know eachother?" Your best friend asks, breaking you from your thoughts.
"Yeah, this is Milan Lucic from the Boston Bruins. Looch, this is my best friend, (Y/BFF). Looch and I grew up in Vancouver together." You smile at Milan, remembering all the good times you had.
"Those were the days." he winked at you. "I was more than your best friend though. I gave you your first kiss."
"Just because I was a six year old trying to prove that sometimes when you kiss a prince they can turn back into a frog, doesn't make you anything more than my childhood best friend," you say rolling your eyes. He was still the pain you remembered.
"So, (Y/N) go you want to get out of here and maybe catch up?" The thought of catching up with Milan made you smile, there was so much you wanted to tell him.
"Of course! Would you mind?" You turn to your best friend.
"Not at all," she said, eyeing another teammate of Milan's.
"Bergy," he whispers in your ear, his breath tickling your neck as he talks.
"Have fun (Y/BFF)! I'll call you in the morning!"
"Make that the afternoon," she winked and slowly started making her way to Bergeron.
"Let's go," he grabs your hand and leads you out into the busy downtown Toronto streets.
"So where to?" He looks down at you.
"Did you really forget my favorite place in all of Canada?"
"How could I?" You walked over to the nearest Tim Horton's.
You both talk until the shop closes for the night about everything. His hockey career, your career as a journalist, your families, and a potential trip to Boston in your future. You eventually wind up back on his hotel room, to excited and not ready to say goodbye quite yet. Crawling into the king sized bed your were sharing with him and snuggle up to his chest like old times. You hear him say "I've missed you, (Y/N) don't leave me again," before he kissed the top of your head.
"I won't," you mumble back sleepily, and you mean it, knowing he is the one you should've been with in the beginning.
