"When it comes down to it, the wind still blows from one horizon to another and the weeping rose petals will all fall to the same soil."

Chapter 3- Where the Petals fall

Beep!

Paw.

Beep!

Paw.

BEEEEPP!

Meowwww.

The combination of Mittens' begging for food I did not have, her constant pawing and the increasingly annoying shrill of my alarm clock made me realize, I was no longer dreaming.

It was time.

Today was my first day, if I wasn't anxious before, I sure was now. The hard thumping of my chest suggested I was a nervous wreck, which I was. I hadn't slept well, although my mind wasn't filled with a single nightmare my sleep was far past terrible. I hadn't woken up in the middle of the night either. Surprisingly. Yet my body was totally and utterly sleep deprived.

Exhaustion.

Beep!

I turned over and stopped the annoying noise from ringing in my foggy brain again. The position I was in caused me to subconsciously stretch while simultaneously yawning. I rubbed my sleep filled eyes and turned to see the time.

Shit.

It was 7:30. I quickly remembered Olivia's reminders about being ready at 8 and if I wasn't it was definitely the running shoe express. I couldn't be late.

I shot up out of my bed practically tripping over my entire bed in the process. I made Mittens' food quickly, it was sloppy and not normally how I made it but I was in a hurry, she let out a voice of disapproval but I didn't have time right now to mind. I opened a cabinet and pulled out a granola bar, I had no intentions of starving today.

I ran back to my room. 7:40. I silently thanked myself for picking out my clothes the night before as I threw all my things into my bag. I wish i had packed that too. So much for not being rushed.

I pulled my shirt over my head and pulled my locket out so it rested on the top of the fabric. I would have stared at it but again I didn't have time for that right now. I rushed to the bathroom. 7:50.

Quickly I fixed my hair, and my clothes. The bruise on my face was still very evident. I silently cursed my dad for thinking it was 'funny'. I somehow brushed my teeth while lacing up my shoes. I glanced at the time on my phone. My eyes grew in horror as I watched 7:59 turn to 8 o'clock.

As if my life depended on it I sprinted out of the bathroom shutting off the lights. "Bye Mittens, don't get into anything have a good day!" I don't think I've ever spoken so fast in my life. I shut the door locking it before rushing over to the car that was moving past my house at a snail pace, olivia in the driver's seat.

"Your free ride leaves in T- five seconds!"

I wasn't sure if she was joking or not so I picked up my feet sprinting to the car door. I opened it and got in. I was huffing as if I had ran a 100 yard dash, it sure felt like I did.

"I was just playing with you, next time take your time, flower boy." She smiled obviously proud of her little scheme.

"Don't do-" I took a deep breath. "That to me- again. I was rushing."

"Sleep in?"

"Yea. By a lot." She just laughed at my response. We sat in comfortable silence for a few moments while I caught my breath. Liv then started the conversation.
