I was in a nice calm dream until I heard the annoying jingle of my alarm. I groaned and then tried to fall back asleep. But... It kept going. I picked my phone up and threw it across the room. It took me less then five seconds to regret doing this so I jumped out of bed to make sure it was alright.
"Oh hey your already up!" I turned around and saw my mom leaning in the door way.
"umm yeah hey, hi, good morning!"
"Good! take a shower... You stink..." She said in a sarcastic voice.
"alright..." I sighed and started searching through a pile of clothes which probably haven't been washed all Summer.
"Oh yeah..." she added before turning around again, "We are going back to school shopping today!"
"Boo!"
"stop being so negitive! You also have to clean your room today!"
"No joke!" I muttered looking around at the mound of mess.
"Shower! Now! Don't make me tell you again!"
"Alright!" I yelled scooping up a pile of clothes that were probably dirty and heading to the bathroom.
"Morning Carter!" One of my brothers Aiden said in his usual cheery voice...
"Morning Kid..."
Before he could say anything else I shut the bathroom door tight and of course locked it...
I almost vomited... Our bathroom smelt like a raw fish decided to put of colon and live in a locker room. Yeah... That pretty much summed it up. I threw my pile of "clothes" on the counter, stripped down and stepped into the shower.
Annnnnnd..... I got ice cold water of my head.
That is what happens when you live in a house with six other people... they use up all the hot water. Of course I probably should have stopped right there and get out but my mom wasn't lying... I really did stink. Thats what happens when its summer... You never shower... I bet more then one person could agree with me on this one...
Once I was done with my 'polar plunge' I wrapped a towel tightly around my body. I raked out my caramel brown hair and dresses my self in a Minecraft T-shirt and blue jeans.
Then I opened the door to the disgusting smelling bathroom and walked down the stairs into the crowded kitchen.
"Oh your down here..." Sean my oldest brother said through a mouth full of pancake
"don't sound so disappointed." i joked sliding into a chair next to him.
"Okay so...." My dad paused waiting for the rest of us to shut up, "Today we are going back to school shopping!"
"Yes!" Andy and Aiden, who were twins cheered
"Listen... Now ya'll are going to get into groups! There are seven of us including your mom and I, so one group is going to be uneven.... Okay go."
"Mom I'm going to go with you..." I muttered
"okay sweet pea!" she smiled
I stood next to my mom.
"Okay! My dad said let me get this all together...
Carter, Sean, And Vinny... You are all with your mother
Andy, Aiden, and Jack... your with me! I copied all of your school lists... Only get what is on there and two other outfits okay! We will all meet a the food court at 12:15 for lunch and go from there... if anyone gets lost go to the mermaid fountain. Oh and walkie talkies!" He handed each of us a walkie talkie.
"Umm dad... Sean, Vinny and I all have phones..." I added
"right..." he collected the three of ours and stood there.
"Lets get going..." My mom sighed glaring at my dad.
"Oh umm yeah... I zoned out for a second..." My dad said then he started shooing the boys into his car and drove off.
"we are all going in my car." she noted grabbing her purse.
"I call shot gun!" I yelled racing out the door.
"No! I'm the oldest!" Sean yelled after me
"So what!" I yelled buckling the seatbelt
"Carter... backseat!" my mom sighed. I grunted and plopped next to Vinny.
"I'm riding shot gun back!" Vinny called
"Wha-"
"Carter... You get something else for under ten dollars then! Is that fair!"
I stuck my tongue out at both of them.
my mom laughed and started the engine.

We pulled up at the mall fifteen minutes later.
"Lets get this done quick... Vinny, Sean... You guys are both old enough to go out on your own," She handed them both fifty dollars, "spend is wisly! I'm going with Carter."
"Okay mom!"
"Thanks mom!"
And they both took off in opposite directions.
"You and me Carter!" She smiled
"I hardly ever get to spend time with you." I smiled back
"Well now you do! Were are we going first?"
"Hot Topic!"
"No! you are not getting clothes there!"
"fine lets go to the shoe place... I need new converse."
"alrighty!"
And we head off. I passed so many people from my school. I seriously don't like seeing people from my school so I kept my head down.
"Its a buy two get one free sale!" My mom squealed
"Nice!"
I searched through the stacks of shoe boxes until I decided on baby blue, galaxy, and black converse.
"Thanks mom." I said as we left the store
"Where next?"
"Aeropostale."
"Okay!"
"Carter! Hey! Carter!" I turned around and saw my friend Ashton.
"Hey!" I muttered
"How has your summer been?"
"Good!"
"Great! Why haven't you been texting me?"
"Oh... I got a new phone..."
"Oh. That's why the guy of the other end gets mad every time I call!"
"Oh wow!"
I put my new number into his phone and found my mom looking through racks of sweaters.
"Hey!"
"Oh hi... Thought I lost you!"
"Oh no... I just had to say hi to Asher!"
"Yeah! We're has he been?"
"Georgia... He was visiting his dad..."
"That's right. I haven't seen much of his mother either..."
"yeah... I-I don't know." I said shrugging my shoulders.
"I like this!" I said pulling off a batman T-shirt.
"If I let you get that you have to get this!" My mom said pulling a super fuzzy pink sweater off the rack.
"Umm do they have it in blue?"
"No only red, green, or pink..."
"Green."
"Do you need more jeans?"
I nodded and grabbed a pair of black jeans and navy blue.
My mom paid and then we headed over to the hair salon.
"I think you should chop it all off!"
"No mom... I'll get the split ends off and..."
"And what?"
"Can I dye the tips? Please?"
"Go for it!"
I came out minutes later with my tips blue.
"You look amazing!"
"Thank you... For everything."
"Of course..l now lets go get your school supplies..."

When I was deciding whether I wanted fun shaped erasers or the boring kind my mom interrupted me.
"Dad says Andy got sick and that they can't meet us at the food court... Should we pay and go home? Maybe stop and get some Taco Bell On the way?"
"Yeah sure." I said. I decided on the fun kind and texted Vinny and Sean the news.
"How do you think Andy got sick?" I asked my mom while we were leaving the mall.
"I think we went on mall rides!" She said.
We pulled into the drive way minutes later.
"Hey honey bee!" My dad said
"Hey dad..."
What did you do to-"
"Hey Carter!" Jack shouted giving me a hug.
"Time to show each other what we got!" Mom shouted walking into the house.
It a tradition my family has. Once we all go on a shopping trip we all have to show each other our stuff.
I sat through my brothers showing off their ninja turtle backpacks, markers, light up tennis shoes and all that. But I mostly played Temple Run. Then we have to try on at least one outfit to show to everyone. It's part of the tradition. I pulled of my green sweater. I loved the way it brought out my pale blue eyes.
"Really Matthew!" I heard my mother shout through their door. "You need to let her grow up! She isn't a little girl anymore!"
"She is growing up to fast..."
"Well what about the baby?"
"Come on! We aren't telling the kids yet!"
"We should! We-"
"I'm not arguing about this!" My mom shouted throwing the bedroom door open.
"Hey Carter... I promised you I would get you something since you don't get to ride shot gun so..." She pulled out a box, "I got this at Aeropostale while you were talking to Asher... I was surprised that they had your name."
I opened it and inside was a beautiful silver bracelet with my name on it.
"Thank you mom... It's beautiful..."
I sat back in the living room and showed off my sweater and bracelet.
"Let's watch a movie!" Vinny suggested and we sat around watching Cars. Once it was finished we watched Airplanes. And a whole bunch of little kid movies. We watched five and by six o'clock we ate and we all headed to out rooms.
I was lying in my bed playing on my phone and then my bedroom door opened.
"Hey Carter."
"Hey mom."
"Look I know you heard me and your dad talking earlier."
"Yeah and...?"
"Well... You heard-"
"Something about a baby?"
"Yeah."
"I'm not going to tell anyone... It's fine."
"Good. Great. Tomorrow I'm leaving for my business trip."
"Yeah I know."
"I won't be here for your first day of middle school and-"
"It's fine. I'll call you."
"Okay sweety. I love you."
"I love you too."
Then I turned over on my side.

Tomorrow is my first day of middle school. Wow.
