I stretched my shoulders, bringing my elbows toward each other behind my back. I dropped my  right ear to my shoulder, then my left.

I stared at my computer screen. This chapter was giving me such a hard time. Being a novelist was my dream job, and I'd never do anything else with my life. But writer's block sometimes hit hard, and today was one of those days.

I gazed out the window. Can't complain about the view, I thought, as I'd thought so many times in the past three months, since I'd moved in with Conor. The seaside was idyllic, and had meant a pleasant change from the city.

I sighed and sat back, allowing my eyes soften, watching the waves sparkling in the late-day sunshine.

The lights flickered off and on briefly, then did it again. I turned. Conor was peeking around the door, his hand on the light switch, his lips curled into a grin.

He'd been in the living room, working on some new songs. I smiled and pulled out my earplugs. It's not that I didn't love hearing him sing - I could do that all day - but when I needed to concentrate, I had to block out the world. And that world included his voice, however angelic, coming through the thin walls of our flat. Hence the earplugs and the flickering lights.

"Hey babe, are you interrupt-able?" he asked shyly.

I grinned at his timidity. No matter how long we were together - going on a year now - I doubted he'd ever feel comfortable disturbing me when I was working. It was just his unassuming nature.

I nodded and reached out to him. He slipped through the door and over to me. He always looked great, but man, did he look fantastic today, in just a white t-shirt and black joggers. Comfy Conor was hot Conor in my book.

He placed a quick kiss on my forehead and turned me gently back toward my screen. At first I whined in disapproval, but when he pushed my hair aside and started working his fingers over my shoulders, the whine turned to one of pleasure.

"How do you always know exactly what I need?" I breathed, letting my chin fall to my chest as he massaged the knots riddling my muscles.

"Because we're soul mates?" he whispered, his breath tickling my ear. Then he chuckled. "Or because I saw you stretching when I opened the door."

"I like both reasons," I murmured. "Mmm. That feels so good. Don't you dare stop."

"Tough time?" His voice was full of empathy.

"Yeah. I've written the same scene three times. Can't do words today, I guess. You? How's the new song?"

"Terrible," he said brightly, his fingers moving up to trace circles on the muscles of my neck. I snorted.

"You don't know how to do terrible," I scoffed.

"I don't know, this one is pretty bad. But, it's got to be terrible before it can be wonderful." I could hear the smile on his lips, and I just shook my head. A comfortable silence filled the room as he continued to rub my shoulders.

Then suddenly his lips were by my ear again. His voice came out breathy and sultry.

"Seems like we both need a break."

I swallowed, and a shiver ran up my spine. "Seems like it," I breathed.

He pressed his lips onto that sensitive spot behind my ear that he knew I loved. I sucked in a long breath and could feel him grinning against my skin as his lips slowly descended to where my neck met my shoulder. Then he pushed aside the straps of my tank top and dragged his tongue slowly over my shoulder, placing kisses and nips along the way.
