"Sometimes the bad things that happen in our lives, put us on the path towards the best things we never knew we needed."

Who knew two weeks could be enough time to change me? I cried thinking of staying in this small apartment with a stranger. I felt pity for myself as I walked towards my bedroom. I haven't met my roommate yet, and I didn't want to, knowing he was the only human contact I would have for two weeks.
I looked away from my phone and exited the News site. England was in a two-week quarantine starting tomorrow, which left me little time to prepare. I took a few deep breaths before sitting upright on my bed.
I haven't left my room all day. I tried to make it feel cozier and like home, but I still felt all alone in this small unfamiliar apartment. I knew I needed to talk to someone and all I could think of was Ashton.
My mind conjured Ashton's worried face as I tapped the screen and scrolled through the contacts list in my phone.
Ashton is my best friend and the one person who'd understand. He has been there for me when nobody else was and although I haven't told him everything that happened with me, I knew I could go to him. But, how could I tell him everything that happened when I barely remember myself?
Before I knew it I was dialling Ash's number. I held my breath as I waited for him to pick up.
"Ash.." I said through tears.
"Leah? I heard what happened, I'm so sorry." He began. "It's only two weeks, we will facetime and text the whole time." I let out a noise that sounded like a squeal as I tried to calm myself down. He called my name again.
I was used to being alone in the comfort of my own home back in New York. But I was in a whole new place, trapped inside my hotel room.
"Ya, you're right."
I took a deep breath. I could focus on my writing now. I had two weeks to watch Netflix and relax. Two weeks of not being back at my sad, quiet home, maybe this was a good thing.
Ashton calmed me down and we started talking about everything we would do once I was back home. I hung up as I heard footsteps approaching, and the door flung open. I turned around and saw him.
"Hello, you must be Leah." He said, "I'm Ivan...I um.." He stared at me thinking of what to say next. He bit his lip and appeared to be nervous, as he looked around our small apartment.
As I looked at the boy I would be living with for the next two weeks, my heart swelled in my chest, he was a stranger.
I noticed how cute he is, with his straight, brown hair and hazel eyes. I suddenly felt even more nervous as I stared back at him. He suddenly smiled at me and I felt myself relax to a fraction. I looked away from him, but I could still feel his intense stare.
I looked back at Ivan contemplating what to say, or if I should speak first.
Say something, Leah!
"I'm Leah- but uh.. you know that already." I finally muttered,
He nodded and smiled again and I moved out of the way as he walked in.
"So.. which room is mine?"
I pointed to the room on the right side. I watched as he walked to his room before shutting the door. I took a deep breath and slowly walked to my room, locking my door behind me.
