I woke up to a small voice calling me
"(y/n)" I slowly opened my groggy eyes, and looked to see the bathroom door straight ahead. I furrowed my brows to a look of confusuion on my face.
"(y/n)" I looked over to the left, still laying down, to see Seymor smiling at me with a cup in hand.
He had made coffee for me, and this made me worried. I carried both cane and brown sugar in my home and he probably didn't get it right. I smiled and took the cup though, trying to be polite as I sipped the warm beverage.
White sugar...I drank it anyway because it wasn't bad just, not what I wanted.
"Will you sit down and have coffee with me this morning?" he said while standing up and walking to the door.
"Oh uhm." I said unsure, looking at the time and feeling my heart drop. "NO! I CAN'T! SORRY!" I yelled as I threw myself out of the warm, grey bamboo sheets.
I rushed around the room struggling to put on clothes. Today just a simple brown tank top with a black blazer and the jeans I wore last week that were still on the floor. I ran to the bathroom and sprayed on my oak and jasmine everyday perfume and shoved my deoderant stick under my shirt trying to go as fast as possible.
"W-Whats wrong??" Seymor asks me suprised. "I HAVE 30 MINUTES TO GET READY AND BE AT WORK!" I yelled quietly, hoping not to wake up the neighbors.
I needed to make a call.
I put my hair up in a messy low bun and yanked my bangs to the front of my face, reaching over and dialing the number for the office.
"Theresa Lisbon of the CBI, how may I help you?"
"Hey Lisbon." I tried to keep a calm composure as I spoke. "There's a possibility I will be late today. The taxi is taking longer than usual." I said.
"No worries, (Y/N) I appreciate the heads up. See you at the office." she said in her constant serious tone
"Se-" I was interrupted by her hanging up the phone. oof. I called a taxi. Putting on my shoes, I rushed back to the bathroom.
I curled my eyelashes and put concealer on the normal spots, then plastering on the mascara I use everyday. Jane will not be finding out the truth on my watch.
I poured the coffee Seymor made me into the tumbler, grabbed my phone and wallet, and rushed out the door. Seymor looking sad he didn't get a kiss goodbye. I blew him one through the window and rushed down the stairs to see the taxi pull up. I'd be 5 minutes late.I got to the office to see Patrick step out of his little oldie car.
I watched him walk to the office and step inside.
Great. I'm Later than Patrick. I thought.
I came in to the building with a cheery smile and hurried to the elevator. It was closing so I ran. "Hold the elevator! Hold on please wait!" I urged at the person in the elevator. The doors opened back up and Patrick greeted me with a smile. He smiles too often.
"(y/n)"
"Jane."
he softly gave a small chuckle and looked over at me.
"Wake up late today?" he asked deviously
Trying to lie I smiled "No, I wish I had gotten more sleep honestly. Idiot taxi driver was late." I said looking at the buttons next to the elevator door.
He cocked his head a little bit and grinned lightly. "(yyyy/nnnnn)" he whined knowing I was lying.
"f-fine, but please don't tell lisbon!" I begged
he chuckled and agreed, patting my back as the doors opened. He left and I followed. I went straight to Lisbon and apolgized for my lateness to which she brushed it off and handed me a file. "Go through these and find the information on the suspects inside. Report back to me when you can ok? I nodded and strode back to my desk quickly.
I sat down and logged in. After about 7 minutes I had all of the information on the first file that I needed. Taking that file and printing the info notes, I placed the notes and the file to the side.
"Did you make bad coffee today?" Jane said as he stood behind me with his hands in his pockets
"wAAA!!" I jumped in my seat and flipped around to see him on the verge of laughing at me.
"Jaaane! That was rude! You could have at least warned me by tapping on my shoulder or something!" I said flustered and still a bit on edge.
"Eh, its not as funny. Did you make bad coffee today? You haven't taken a sip since you got here." he asked me using his crazy weird observing skills.
"Oh, erm, no I just... ran out of brown sugar today." I said flatly
"hmmm. Why are you lying so much today (y/n)? In a deceiving mood??" he says taunting me.
I growl at him and face my computer. He comes around to the side of my desk and peers over at me, poking my left eyebrow.
"Eyebrow twitch. Remember?" He looks at me and says.
I lightly swatted at his hand and scoffed at him. He grinned and walked to his couch, picking up the teacup on his desk and sipping it. He grabbed pride and predjudice and began to read it. I smiled, remembering his soft voice reading to me in the hospital, as I drifted off into sleep. I blushed and looked back at my computer.
