Chapter 8: Long road ahead

Kyle:* at the explosion site*. Seems like a fight broke out here. Jake: Did you get that from the bodies lying all over the place or the smoke?. Kyle: Hey man. Cut the crap. Okay, people lost thier lives. Nothing to joke around about. Jake: Sorry, just...the past couple days has been rough ever since Avery died. Now where deciding who to make our new leader....although-. Kyle: No...im not doing it. Now isnt-. Jake: The time?. Then when Kyle. People need you. We need you. Ali....needs you. And Aiden. Your just going to leave them clueless in this world. Kyle: No...I suppose not. Jake: Alright then, its decided. Tonight well announce it. Kyle:......after that, we leave tomorrow morning. Jake: You really think California is the best place to go. What about your brother. Kyle: he was here. Jake: It could have been anyone. Kyle: No...Mr Jager spoke about meeting someone who was quite close to me. Also, when the raid happen, he had two teams split up. Which means the other team was here. * looks over at June and sees a picture next to her*. * picks it up and sees jamal next to June and holding thier daughter mari*. This is him....by god...I knew you were alive. He was here this whole time. Jake:* let me see*. * takes the picture*......well ill be damned. He was at the prison when you left. Kyle: Wait what!. Jake: Yeah some type of acid zombie broke into our gates and killed a woman. Thats when he came rushing in and helped us. Kyle: Why didn't you say anything? Jake: I had no idea he was related to you, nor did I know what he actually looked like. Kyle:....Alright let's head back. Get everyone ready for the announcement. Jake: Yeah. Come on. Kyle:.....Wait....let's bury her. He would have wanted that. Go on, ill catch up. Jake:....right. * leaves*. Kyle: Im sorry you had to live through this hell. * buries her then leaves*. Tanner: Jamal we been walking for 3 days straight we need to stop. Jamal: Fine, lets take 10. How's mari Savannah?. Sav: Shes good. Sleeping actully. Jamal:....good. shell need the rest. Before it gets dark we need to find a place to rest. Thats safe. Sav: Agreed. But walking through the highway isn't going to help us much. Jamal: Yeah seems that way. Ill scout out further and see if I can find anything. Tanner come with me. Sav, stay here and watch the group until we get back. Sav: Sure thing.  Jamal:* walking along looking through the cars*. Tanner: So what's the deal. Jamal: Im hoping we can get one of these cars to work, if possible. Might not be that lucky. Why not look around these cars and see if we can find anything useful. Tanner: Yeah. Jamal: Oh and listen. If you see a dead body in one of these cars....stab it in the head. Can't be to safe. Tanner:....Sure. * goes to loot*. Jamal: Alright let's see if we can find anything useful.* going to car one by one*. There's something back there.* opens the car and reaches in, as soon as he does a zombie grabs his arm from the back seat*. AGH. What the hell. Get off.* breaks free then stabs it in the head*. Damn..nice. we need this. * finds  a bag full of canned food and baby formula*. Okay. I should probably take this back to the group.* closes the door*. Tanner: Oh he yeah. * finds an ambulance truck*. Well find medical supplies in here. HEY JAMAL. I FOUND SOMETHING!. Jamal:* Runs over to tanner*. Jesus man, keep it down. You tryna attract the whole area.....nice find. * goes to open the front door but its locked*. Try the back door. Tanner:* attempts to open the door but its locked as well*. No luck. Jamal: No....this is good. We found a truck. Medical supplies and food so far....the best thing we can do is get this car started and get into it. Find a hammer or something to break the windows. Tanner: But you said-. Jamal: I know what I said. Just do it. Tanner:* starts looking around but no luck*. Jamal: Seriously?.....okay...screw it. * picks up a rock and bashes the window in and unlocks the door*. Tanner: Well?. Jamal:* pulls out a full medkit and medical supplies*. Hehe. Seems luck is on our side. Let me see if I can get this started. Go bring all this back to the group. * gets to hot wiring the truck*. Tanner: *picks up the stuff and heads bsck*. Sav: What you got there?  Tanner: Food, Supplies, medical, baby formula, and thats not the best part. We found a working ambulance truck. Jamal is trying to start it now. Sav: Alright let's go. * gets up and picks mari up and brings her to the truck*. Tanner: Alright Jamal, how's the truck. Jamal:* truck starts up*. That answer your question. Hahahah. Tanner: Alright everyone let's get in. * everyone gets in as the truck starts moving and they head off. Moments later*. Tanner: You know....I was a cop before all this. Heh. Savi: Really?. Tanner: Yeah..I mean I had just started. It was my first week as a cop. Man do I miss it. Sav: So when did this all start for you. Tanner: luckily one day me and my partner got a really good catch. There was a murder case that needed solving. They had me in the detective part as a cop. So we both went to the house that had the murder scene. Plenty enough it was as bloody as anything I've seen. We open the door and there was just blood everywhere. I mean on the walls, floor, ceiling. It was insane. After that, we heard footsteps above us, so we both pull our guns out just incase. I'm yelling out to come out with thier hands up. No sign, but more footsteps. Clearly if you know your making noise and u know the cops are below you, you would cooperate and head downstaires right?. Wrong. So we decided to head upstaires, my partner went first and then me. We make it to the first room where this guy was standing in the corner making some weird noise. My partner yells out to get on the ground with his hands above his head. No respond. Next thing you know, I see a woman running from the hall over and straight at my partner as she knocked him down. She....was....tearing him apart...he told me to run...I froze and I shot him in the head....I didn't want him to suffer or come back as one if them....after that..I been by myself. Sav: im so sorry tanner. Tanner: Its okay......hes in a better place....ahem. enough about me, what about you Sav?. Sav:...oh..me, yeah my story is a bit naughty. Tanner: Seems to me we have time for that. Haha. Sav: I was a stripper. Tanner: Explains the hot bod. Sav: Shut it you. Before all this, I was late on all my rent, late for work, I was broke. Had nothing left. All my family members are dead. So I had nothing to be shamed of when I became a stripper. A week past and I already had about 100k. People saw potential in me. I was stacked with money, and able to pay my debts. The way I saw it happened.....people where running all over the place. I walked to my bosses office and though he was making out with one of the girls. Turns out the girl was muching on his face. I got the hell outa there and was surviving up until now. Jamal: Maybe you guys should get some rest. Tanner: What about you Jamal? How'd it start for you. Jamal: There was an explosion. Destroyed my whole neighborhood and miles more. I only lived because I was in a fridge......listen...thats the past. What matters is what we do now. Tanner: Still think its important to have a little humanity here and there. Jamal: Hows mari. Sav: Shes fine. Sleeping actully. How old is she now, 2?. Jamal: Yeah, almost three in about 2 months. *looks at the gas*. Lets stop here and look for gas. * they stop at a junkyard*. Hopefully one of these cars here have some gas to siphon. We each take a gallon. Grab what you can and meet back here okay. Sav stay here and watch mari. Jamal: * Walking around looking for cars then notices a house in front of him with the window busted*. Tanner: Thinking what I'm thinking?. Jamal: We check it out?. Tanner: Yeah come on. * Tjey both enter the house as a cold burts of air rushes through them as they open the door*. Jamal: stay alert. Zombies could be anywhere. Tanner: I'll check upstaires. * goes up while Jamal stays downstiares*. Jamal: Okay. Not sure where these people would keep some gas but-. ???: Put your gun down?. Jamal: Shit...listen I didn't know you lived here-. ???: Shut up and just do as I say. ???#2: Best do what she says man, my gf is not a person to fuck around with. Jamal:* puts the gun down on the floor and turns around*. Okay now what, how bout you put ur guns down. ???: I don't take orders from strangers. I'm only being cautious. Jamal: I see. Is that your boy?. ???: Yeah he is. Now shut up. Tanner:* sneaking down the stairs and points the gun at the woman*. Raise em where I can see em. ???: Dammit. Theres more of you. Sav: * enters the house with mari*. What the hell?. Jamal: Sav it's okay, hand me my daughter. Sav:* gives mari to jamal*. ???: Your a father?. Jamal: Yeah my wife just died not to long ago. Its just me and my daughter. ???: I know how that must feel, to have someone to look after and protect. AJ is someone that I deeply love. ???#2: We both do. ???: Okay, we're cool. Ill trust you for now. Don't make me regret this. Jamal: Wouldn't think it. Tanner: * puts his weapon away*. ???: So what are you guys doing?. Jamal: Long story short, were headed to California. Its a safe zone, no zombies had taken it yet. ???: funny. Where headed here too just for the same reason. Jamal: We were actully looking around for some gas but didn't find nun apperently. ???:......we can take you. I think a group of people would be nice. Jamal: Yeag sounds good. ???: We have a car outside the gates. Lets get packed and going. * the 3 head towards their car*. Tanner:You think we can trust her?. Jamal She looks like she's in her 20s or just 20. They run alright with me. Trust me guys. Lets go. Tanner:* sigh*. Okay. * everyone gets packed in the car and they start driving*. Jamal: So I'm Jamal, this is tanner, and Savannah. And my daughter is Mariana. We call her mari for short. ???: I knew a Mariana before she was shot in the head. Jamal: and you?. ???: this is my boyfriend Louis. And this kid that we been taking care of since he was little is like a son to us. His name is Alvin Junior. Jamal: and your name?. Clementine: My name is clementine.
