chapter 28 - two more flights

We walked to our next gate and had about an hour to spare so we walked around and shopped.

I started to get hot so I took off Clay's sweatshirt and put it in my bag. We got McDonald's for lunch since by now it was around 1:30 and our flight was going to board in about half an hour.

I ate my hamburger and fries and drank my sprite as we waited for our plane to board.

Our flight number was called and we boarded the plane.

I once again took the window seat and we were going to arrive in Portland, Oregon in about 2 hours.

Once we were in the air I got out my sketchbook again continuing my dream wedding dress and finally, Clay saw what I was doing.

I titled my sketch at the top "dream wedding dress".

I looked up at Clay and he looked away fast and he was red. I giggled quietly and then a flight attendant lady walked past asking if we wanted anything to drink.

Clay and I both asked for water and the lady nodded her head with a smile and walked away.

She came back and handed me my water and then handed Clay his with a piece of paper with what I'm assuming was her number and she winked at him as she walked away.

I was annoyed. I rolled my eyes and looked out the window.

"Hey hey hey don't be mad I'm not gonna do anything. You know I have feelings for you and only you." He said with a soft smile on his face.

I was still mad but a smile still managed to slip out of me. He liked me yet he still hadn't asked me to be his girlfriend. It just made no sense.

Our flight landed and we were now in Oregon. By now it was around 4 and we had a 3-hour delay. This was the last stretch and we wouldn't be getting there till midnight or later. By now I was so jet-lagged. Alaska was actually 3 hours behind so we are really getting there around 10 but we would still have an hour-long drive to the cabin he rented out for the week.

We started to get off the plane and right as we got off Clay handed the flight attendant the note she gave him. She had a kinky smile on her face but the only thing the note had one it was

"no ;)"

Clay had written that and was ready to give it to her and actually committed to it. We giggled as we walked off the plane together and he grabbed my hand. I started to skip with my backpack on my back, my right hand on my suitcase handle, and my left in Clay's hand.

We got to our last and final gate and Clay went and grabbed us Chic-Fil-A. We ate our food and then waited

and waited

and waited.

I fell asleep resting my head on Clay's lap around 6 and he just listened to music. This was our longest flight of today so he downloaded movies on my phone. He was the only person I told my password to and it was the same for him.

I never fully fell asleep I could hear everything around me I just couldn't really move. I heard Clay's voice softly and calmly wake me up.

"Rise and shine Lysa its time to go we gotta get on our last flight."

I arose from his lap and grabbed my backpack and white suitcase. We got our tickets scanned and got to our seats. We got in the air and by now it was dark.

Alaska was just getting out of its dark days so the sun wouldn't be out 24/7 like I said it would until about halfway through the week. I was okay with it though because then it would be dark enough to see all the fireworks.

We were up in about 45 minutes and Clay wanted to watch a movie. So he hopped in my seat getting underneath me and I put our seat back so we were laying down.

We set my phone up from my water bottle and I slipped his hoodie on from my backpack before the movie started.

It was dark on the plane but we were both okay with it.

He wrapped his arms tightly around my bust pushing my boobs up a little but I didn't care. I nuzzled my head into his shoulder and we started to watch the movie. I looked up at him for a second and he looked down on me.

Our lips locked for about a minute and when they unlocked we both just looked at each other and smiled.

The old couple across from us smiled at me and my heart was filled. We continued to watch the movie and I was so tired I fell asleep again but I was in Clay's arms so it was alright.

We kissed again and then I officially knew I was going to ask her. On New Year on her birthday, I am going to tell her I love her and ask her to be my girlfriend. I was so ready but I was also nervous.

An old couple who was across the aisle from us looked at us cuddling and I couldn't help but smile. I wanted to be like that in the future but with Alyssa.

She had fallen asleep and I couldn't help but watch her. She looked so peaceful. She was the perfect sleeper. I think me and her both know we aren't going to be sleeping in separate rooms and that's okay.

I am going to take care of her. I was so excited for her birthday. What I had planned for her at the cabin was going to be epic. I am so excited to see her reaction.

The pilot announced we were landing and Clay had to get back to his seat. I woke up and turned the movie off. I put my seat up and put my seat belt on. I was so tired but we were almost there. It was around 10 when I could finally see land. The whole city was lit up from the city lights and the moonlight.

We landed and by now I was wide awake. I was so excited. We got off the plane and got a car that we rented out for the week and Clay drove us to the cabin.

I dozed off for a bit but woke up when we were about 5 minutes away.

"We are almost there Lysa"

I put my airpods away and my phone which still had a pretty good charge on it considering my portal charger died 5 hours ago,

We finally got to the house and there was another car here.

"Uh Clay are you sure this is the right place. There is another car here."

"Yep this is right."

"Okay" I said very unsure.

We got our luggage out of the trunk and walked up to the house. He had a key. He unlocked the door and the place was pitch black.

I had finally found the light switch and turned it on when I heard three voices scream "SURPRISE!"
