Harry's POV
Leaving Lexi was, without a doubt, the hardest thing I'll ever have to do. I desperately wanted to tell her I'll return, if the Resurrection Stone works that is.
Lexi couldn't know because that would ruin the plan if she wasn't in absolute pain over my 'death'. I was mentally begging to whatever God was up there that this worked. If it didn't, I'd be already failing as a father for not being there as my child grew up. Lexi needs me and I need her.
I rolled the Snitch around in my hand, analysing it. I also hoped Voldemort and all his Death Eaters believed that I was submitting myself over to them out of sheer cowardice. Voldemort isn't aware that I am one of his Horcruxes and by killing me, he'll be killing part of himself.
I pressed my lips the the Snitch's patterned skin and whispered,
"I am about to die,"
The Snitch parted in a perfect crack, revealing the Resurrection Stone. I flipped the Snitch over so that the Stone fell lightly into the palm of my hand. I squeezed it, my life depending on this one stone, and turned it over, once, twice, three times.
When I looked up, I was surrounded by my dead friends, family and allies. They looked neither ghost-like nor alive, but were behaving as live people do.
My father smiled at me, stepped forward towards me. My mother stepped closer too, both surrounding me.
"You've been so brave, my son," Lily said to me, with the affection any mother has for their child.
James and Lily stepped back, and Harry noticed Sirius and Remus standing there. Poor Lupin. He'd never see his son grow up. I don't even know if Tonks is still alive.
"Does it hurt?" I asked, that question that has troubled my mind since I was a child.
"Not at all, Faster and easier than going to sleep," Sirius answered.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't want any of you to die, especially not for me,"
"Don't be sorry, Harry," Remus answered. "Just make sure you take good care of Teddy for me, okay?"
"Of course. Will you all stay with me?"
"Yes. We are invisible to everyone but you," Mom answered.
I entered my own world once again, feeling the chill of the Forest.
I continued to walk further in the forest, becoming more and more at ease that this will work, that I'll return to Lexi.
I walked towards a treeline on the outskirts of the clearing where the Death Eaters and Voldemort were temporarily taking refuge.
"I thought he would come..." Voldemort mused, an evil smirk on his face.
I dropped the Resurrection Stone quickly onto the groud in front of me, checking that no one in the clearing saw. Lily, James, Sirius and Remus instantly disappeared as the Stone left my grip. I then stepped out, where everyone was waiting for me.
"I have come," I stated with as clear a voice as I could manage.
Voldemort shot around, smiling at me.
"Ah, Harry Potter, the boy who lived has come to die," He laughed sadistically, the Death Eaters joining in.
"If you're going to kill me, get on with it," I spat.
I saw his mouth move, a flash of green light, and then nothing.
