We sat in a rather uncomfortable silence all the way home. Or should I say we sat in a rather uncomfortable silence all the way to whatever dungeon my kidnapper planned to lock me up in. Even if I now knew that I could easily mess with Jonathan, I wasn't going to sit back while he dragged me to some unknown location against my will.
The car abruptly stopped in front of a huge mansion that could only belong to a millionaire.
I must have been staring, because Jonathan looked at me with a smirk. "My dad used to be the Alpha of my pack. I was going to be the next Alpha, but I didn't feel like putting up with the responsibility. But hey, I'm still loaded, so what's the big deal, ya know?" He leaned back in the black leather chair, stretching his arms behind his head. I didn't know if what he just said made me think of him as lazy, or smart in a weird, twisted kind of way. Whichever it was, it didn't matter, because I wasn't going to be around much longer. While Jonathan was relaxing in his chair, I quietly slid the lock on the door until it said "OPEN". The next part required every bit of my werewolf speed, because there would be no doing it quietly. I slammed the door open and didn't wait to see if Jonathan was behind me. I bolted in the direction I guessed my home was. Within a few seconds, my wolf emerged and I ran on all fours. I let out a wild howl that was laced with pleasure. Wind whipped my ears back, pinning them against my head, and I lunged myself into the cover of some trees. I kept running, enjoying the thrill of being chased.
Just when I thought I had gotten away, a huge force slammed into my side, just as it had on my run with Jenna. That run seemed to be so long ago, but in reality it was only three or four hours ago. The impact jarred my thoughts and caused me to fall to the ground. The smell of sugar and vanilla washed over me, making my wolf excited but making me want to puke.
"What the hell was that?!" Jonathan demanded. He was in his wolf's form, and it was almost as gorgeous as his human body. He stood a staggering three feet tall on all fours, towering over my pitiful one and a half foot wolf. His fur was a deep brown like his human eyes, which were now a brownish-green. I know it seems stupid, but his fur seemed to have a purple tint to it that was just... magical. It looked like it would feel as soft as a pup's fur if you were to run a hand through it. I shook my head clear and answered his question with the exact same thing.
"What the hell was THAT?!" I yelled. "It's the second time today you've knocked me flat!"
"I couldn't let you get away! You're the one girl who was made for me, and I was made for you. I know you feel the same way I do when I look at you. It's like somebody has taken everything else away, and you're the only one I see! I can't LIVE without you! I- I-...." He looked completely flustered, and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I didn't know if he was declaring some kind of love for me, or if he was trying to justify kidnapping me.
"Jonathan... I wish I could say something like that but you broke my room, and took me away from my family. If you could just have been a normal mate and came up to me and, I don't know, said hi? Maybe then it would have worked. I... I needed someone. And then you go and make things a million times more complicated!" I didn't know what to say to get it through his head. He did know that kidnapping was a felony, right?
"Alex, we never could have been normal mates. I know you don't understand, but-"
"Again with somebody saying 'You just don't understand!" I screamed. "Of course I don't, because NOBODY WILL TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! I'm sick of this CRAP!" I probably looked like an immature child stomping and screaming like that, but I couldn't help it. Everyone who was supposed to love and accept me was keeping something from me. "I just want someone to be honest with me! What's so wrong with me that I can't be trusted? What's wrong with me?" I cried. It was embarrassing to be crying and breaking down like this in front of Jonathan, but I was... finished. I needed a shoulder to cry on, but no one was there for me. I felt myself shifting before I could stop it. I covered myself up as best I could with my hands and crumpled to the ground in a crying, teary mess. Jonathan, still in his wolf form, walked up to me sheepishly and handed me my clothes that he had apparently brought with him. I put them on slowly with shaking hands, still sobbing uncontrollably.
