Christopher's POV
It was midnight. I was working on my computer when I heard someone knocking on my door. I said: "Come in."
I wasn't expecting to see my new sister half-asleep with red eyes.
"What happened, Anna?" I asked, slightly worried.
"I had a nightmare. Can I please stay with you?" I nodded, turned off the computer, and made a room for her on my bed.
"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked, but she shook her head.
"Can you please tell me a fairy tale?"
"I don't know, Anna. I've never done that before. What if I am a bad storyteller?"
"Please? It doesn't matter how bad you are. Your voice is calming me down."
"Ok. So There was this girl, I think her name was Bella and she had a dad? He went somewhere and the beast took him. Then some people didn't like Bella because she was smart. I don't remember much about it, but I know she went to help her dad and the beast took her. She fell in love with him and he changed into a prince and everyone was happy. The end."
"You need a lot of practice. When you are telling a story you start with where we are, like - In a small village where everyone knew each other, lived a small girl with her father. The village was in the middle of nowhere. Every way outside was planted with trees, birds' singing replaced the alarm. You could find a rabbit eating in your garden. People in the village believed that strength is everything. They didn't want smart brains to tell them how to make their lives easier. So when Bella decided she wanted to find as much information as she could in books, they started to be mean to her. Her dad was a tradesman. One day he wanted to sell some of his works so he took the horse and left Bella in the village alone. On the way back home, he got lost in a blizzard and found a castle. It wasn't a normal castle, it was an enchanted castle. He stayed there for a night. When he wanted to leave he found a beautiful rose bush. He wanted to take a present to Bella, so he tore off one of the roses. He didn't know that....that it would anger the beast. So the beast..."
She yawned throughout the story. She ends in the middle of the sentence. She slept on her side with one finger in her mouth. It was the most beautiful sight I've ever seen. I stood up to cover her with the blanket, but what I saw made me stop. The shirt she had rolled up and I could see her back full of scars. I ran to Vince's room and told him everything.
"Shit. I know the bitch had the tools for that, but I thought she didn't use it. I thought she just beat her. Chris, I don't know if she did anything worse. There were knives and a bathtub and whips. Why didn't I think about taking her to the doctor before?"
"Hey, hey, it's okay. It's not your fault. You need to be strong for her, ok? Breathe Vince."
After we calmed down, we went for Elijah, but he was peacefully sleeping. We decided to let him sleep. We will take care of it tomorrow.
I haven't slept well. My mind was full and I couldn't relax. So when I woke up, I decided I would go make breakfast. In the middle of cooking, I saw Ryan coming downstairs. It shocked me to see him before dad and Vince. He sat down on the stool and glared at me.
"What is going on, bub?" I asked.
"You tell me. Is something wrong?" I sighed. Today will be a long day.
"Ok, bub. You and I both know that something is bothering you. Can you please tell me what it is?"
"No. It's not your business."
"Yes, it is. If it wasn't then it wouldn't affect your mood this early in the morning and you wouldn't be talking back to me. So tell me what is happening."
