Alex led me through the backstage area gripping my hand. He held a red solo cup in his other hand trying to find the guys, with Kelsey hot on our heels.

Rian sat at a drum pad drinking what appeared to be Pedialyte.

"How are those maracas?" Kelsey asked as I tried to stifle my laughter. Rian stared at us both confused. He stared at Alex for help, who could only shrug.

"Hey, Zack sorry about your floorboards," Alex stated offering his friend a hug. Zack just shook his head gently accepting the hug.

"You guys are too precious," Kelsey and I cooed leaning our heads together making cute faces at them.

"Have no fear, Jack has arrived," Jack announced coming through the green room door.

"We were so worried about it," Kelsey replied pretending she hadn't been looking for him.

"Hey Kels," he greeted standing his 6'2 frame almost on top of her 5'4 body.

"Hi Jack," she replied as if his appearance bothered her. But I knew better.

"I know you love me, it's okay," he told her.

"Yeah, I'd love for you to go away," she responded walking away from him. I laughed at the display. He wasn't wrong. I know the current version of me had never told them that she used to carry a picture of Jack in her bag, and she had his poster above her bed until senior year in high school, until the tape finally wore out and it wouldn't stick any more. In fact, she had more pictures of him than I had had of Alex, it was what made us such great friends, we loved the exact same bands and had crushes on opposite band members. Only apparently, she was playing hard to get for her crush.

I slipped from Alex only to go to Kelsey. "I have to pee, come with me," I insisted.

She nodded holding my hand. Alex looked up at me once before going back to his discussion. It's not like I could get lost backstage.

''There has to be a bathroom around here," I groaned making lefts and rights down hallways.

"I feel like we are going to Narnia just to take a piss," Kelsey pointed out as we finally found one.

"So," I began ducking into a stall. "Why are you giving him shit?" I joked.

"It's fun," Kelsey insisted. I knew her well enough to know she was checking her lip gloss in the mirror.

"Should I tell him about the pictures?" I joked exiting the stall to wash my hands. Her eyes were as wide as frisbees at the idea.

"You wouldn't dare!" she challenged.

"You better get on that Barakat train soon, or I will."

"You are so evil," she squinted in the mirror at me, but I knew she loved me for giving her that push.

"I know," I smiled.

As we tried to find our way back to the boys, I heard something behind us.

"There you are," I froze in my tracks at the sound. Kelsey and I, too paralyzed to move.

"I knew you would be here,"

I closed my eyes gripping Kelsey's arm in terror. I was too scared to turn around to make it real. If I saw him then I knew it wouldn't be a dream.
