"What?"
Jimin asked with a hint of disappointment in his voice as he spoke with his best friend on the phone.

"Look, I'm so sorry for cancelling. I know this is important but I've got Jungkook waiting for me tonight. Could someone forward me a video of it? I'll hang out with you tomorrow. I promise"
Yoongi tried to explain himself without sounding like a jerk.

Jimin had a very important performance for the arts school he went to. He signed up to be in the group of students who wished to become idols. Tonight was the night that the different agencies would come and judge each small group of students to decide whether to recruit them as a trainee or not. This night would make or break his career choices and he wanted Yoongi to be there, as he was his best friend.

"I mean, this is the most important night of my life but I understand if you want to go out with Jungkook instead."
Jimin was lying but he didn't want to come off as selfish. He knew it was their 1 year anniversary and Jungkook already hated him so he just gave up.

"By the way, it's gonna be on KBS. The least you could do is watch my group. Please? I'll text you before I go on."
All he wanted was for Yoongi to just watch him.

"I'll see if I can. But if something gets in the way I'll definitely see it on YouTube."

"It's not the same."
Jimin thought. If he wasn't going to watch it live then what was the point?

"Well, thanks for letting me know I guess. I'll talk to you later, idiot."
Jimin put on a fake giggle to make sure Yoongi didn't know he was upset.

They hung up the phone and right as Jimin put down his phone he was called back into rehearsal. He tried his best to hold back tears and appear in a motivated mood.

Jimin and the other 2 boys in his group practiced tirelessly for the next 3 hours until they felt they had done enough for now and would practice more before the show.

"Jimin, you seem upset. Are you okay? I heard you talking on the phone."
One of the boys named Hoseok pulled Jimin aside after practice.

"I'm okay I guess. It's just that my best friend is choosing to go out with his boyfriend tonight instead of coming to the performances. I know it sounds selfish but he had already said he was coming, you know? And he's my best friend."
Jimin explained with an upset tone.

"What? That's really rude of him. I'm so sorry that happened. Will your parents be there at least?
Hoseok asked, trying to brighten the situation.

"They tried, but they're stuck in Busan with my sister's kids."
Jimin explained.

"Is... anyone coming?"

"Uh, not that I know of."
Jimin smiled weakly to himself.

"Jiminie, you have to know that you're so much better than all of them. Even instructor Han said that if anyone was becoming an idol that it was you. Taehyung and I will always be here. Even if we end up not getting into the same company or a company at all. We'll always be here. Right Tae?"

"Uh, what?"
Taehyung responded, completely out of it.

"He says yes"
Hoseok kicked Taehyung in the leg and then smiled at Jimin.

"Thanks guys. I don't know what I would do without you."
Jimin truly meant that. He was so grateful to have the best group members.

The three of them exited the school's pretty rehearsal rooms so they could get a cab to the KBS building where the competition would take place. They were all so proud of themselves because they were a group out of the 5 from their school. They had to compete to even get there.

Jimin forgot about Yoongi as him and the others were laughing and joking all the way to the venue. He was starting to realize that he had better people around him.
