I went back to my desk after the captain gave us the news that I was being put on this new case. I put the large manilla case files onto my desk and opened my laptop and started to read all the articles about The Surgeon.

Wow...this is unbelievable. I can't believe someone would actually do this. I looked up from my screen to see Jasmine come into my office.

"Hey do you want to go get lunch? We can go to the little cafe down the street, it will only take like fifteen minutes because I know that you have a lot of work to do." She smiled that smile no one can resist.

"Sure! I'm just going to pack up the files and then we can go." I shut my laptop and closed all the files and piled them on my desk with all the other junk there is.

When we got there Jasmine got her usual turkey, mayonnaise, and lettuce sandwich and I got whatever I first saw on the menu which happened to be a BLT. We sat down at a booth and talked about the new case.

"I honestly don't understand how someone could kill young innocent girls! And he's killing them in the worst possible way! Like starving and cutting into someone's body to kill them! It's ridiculous!!!" I shoved my sandwich into my mouth angrily and looked around.

"I'm sorry Zara, but I am so glad that I am not working on that case. The workload is going to be crazy, don't you think? Like so many people have been trying to catch this man but everyone ends up failing."

"I know, I am definitely going to die trying but I need to do my best because The Surgeon cannot keep killing these young innocent girls." I said wiping my fingers off with the napkin.

We finished our lunch and were about to head out the door when we were stopped by a tan, muscular, dark brown haired guy looking to be in his mid twenties.

"I didn't mean to eavesdrop or anything but I heard that you were talking about The Surgeon?" He was very very very hot.

"Ummm....yeah...haha...I'm a detective, my name is Zara and my friend is a criminal investigator, she's Jasmine." I said as I felt my cheeks burn bright red just looking at his toned arms, while Jasmine gave him a little smile and waved her hand.

"Does that mean that you are working on that case then?"

"Yeah I am, why do you ask?" I said swaying back and forth, trying to avoid his dark green eyes.

"Well maybe I shouldn't tell you this but I'm The Surgeons son." He said blankly. Our jaws dropped.
