Zach's POV
"Lets go Zach! Pick up the speed we have a long way to go if I'm going to show you the proper technique on how to kill," Dad had said while walking on the hiking trail. The bag of hunting tools on his back had rain drops running off of it. The mud was getting into my shoes causing my socks to be all squishy and soggy. But I wasn't allowed to complain especially during our hikes.
The trees that were surrounding us had water dripping off the leaves, and the fog being so thick it was getting hard to see Dad in front of me. I started to hear screams in the distance yelling for help.
"Hey Zach! Come here, do you hear that? Someone is yelling for help.
"Look, you can see them just a little further ahead of us. This is a perfect chance for you to practice your hunting skills. Here take these arrows and start shooting. You have to make them your target because this is how real men do it." Dad was talking and acting quick, shoving the arrows in my hand and consistently telling me to shoot.
"Dad!!! What if I accidentally shoot them! Those people are gonna die!!!" I said standing there while the rain was soaking my hair and clothes. My tears ran down my face and my hands started to shake as I got arrows ready.
"Son, you have to listen to me. There is nothing to be afraid of, you can't let your fears get in the way of your dreams of being a hunter. So get ready to shoot before they run off!" Dad said to me with his rough cracked hands shaking my shoulder. I stood in the same position getting ready to let the arrow go but something didn't feel right. Dad was continuously pressuring me to let the arrow so I would be able to hit the group of people, the target.
After what felt like hours, I let the arrow go and I saw it glide through the air, fast. The arrow had pierced a tree right next to a woman with light brown, bright blue eyes, and was around 5'4.
"Oh son! You were so close on hitting your target! I just know that with more practice, you will be an amazing hunter!" Dad had said while hugging me but I could see the woman turn her head towards us with absolute fear. I pushed Dad's arms away from my body and ran. I left my hunting bag and tools and ran as fast as I could to get away from Dad. All I remember is him yelling to me as I ran, "You will either be hunted or be the hunter. You choose!"
I snapped out of it and finally answered.
"Oh no don't worry I'm not going to hurt you!" I said giving them a reassuring smile. They both looked at each other, seeming skeptical.
"Okay...why did you want to know if I am working on the Surgeon's case then?" Zara said curiously.
"Well I was wondering if I could help you with his case...?" I gave the tiniest, cutest smile as I could while I watched Zara and Jasmine stand there in shock.
