Alexis was in jail. She was sitting on her bed in her little concrete cell in Iron mountain prison just outside of Coreal city. This prison is where the government sends all the people they want to pretend they don't exist, Alexis was one of those people. . . One of the government's many failed science experiments. They tried to make her into a super soldier for the war they wanted to start but little did she know they had gotten the serum wrong and instead gave her weird powers. They wanted her to start a war with the neighboring country but she wouldn't do it so they locked her up in a cell and left her there to rot.
The door to her cell suddenly banged open."You are to meet with the General in five minutes," a guard said, turning and stomping back out.
"Never get a moment of peace, do I?" Alexis muttered. As she stood up, pain shot up her leg from an injury she'd gotten in training. She went over to the basin of water in the corner and washed her face. People always said she looked like her mother, but she herself could never see it. Alexis had long dirty blond hair that fell to her knees and green eyes. She was fourteen and not tall but not necessarily short either.
As Alexis finished braiding her hair she touched the picture of her mother and two brothers James and Jasper who had been only four and two. All three of them had died when a government virus called Lyria got out and killed off half the population of Coreal city before they got it under control. The sickness was meant to be used in biological warfare, but after it got out they were forced to stop making sicknesses. Alexis never knew her father, that was one of the reasons the government picked her to be their test subject-- she had no family, no one who would notice her absence.
Suddenly Alexis heard a loud crash and the door flew open again and two guards rushed in."Come with us now!" shouted one of the guards, pushing her out the door and into the hallway.
"What's going on?" Alexis asked, trying to look back down the hallway.
"The base is under attack from rebels. We need to get you somewhere safe," Guard number one said, shoving her through a door. As the door slammed shut behind her, Alexis heard the lock click. It was pitch black in the room they had locked her in.
"Well, isn't this just great?" She muttered to herself as she tripped and fell. The ground was cold concrete. Alexis leaned her back against the wall and rested her head in her hands. Her leg hurt and she was tired. Slowly, she drifted off to sleep.
Alexis was woken by a blinding purple light that filled the room. She didn't know how long she had been asleep, but she did know the light was coming from a swirling vortex in the middle of the room that definitely had not been there when she fell asleep. Suddenly, she saw two human shapes coming out of the portal. She felt hands grab her and then everything went black.
