It was a warm sunny day in our small town.  It was a good thing my house was only three houses away from the beach.  All of us girls had a plan to go to the beach and hang out for the day.  We were on summer vacation and just needed to have some fun.

We were all lying in our bathing suits on towels facing the Ocean. Merry, Lucie, Gracie (who was Lucie's older sister, but we didn't mind one bit), Leah, and myself.  My name is Lola.  Yeah, I know, I was named after my aunt, but I don't mind it.

We were talking about boys and school enjoying the summer sun when all of a sudden, I noticed a bright shiny bit in the sand.

"Lucie!" I started to dig around the gold gleam in the sand, "Give me your nail file quick!"

"Why?" Lucie wanted to just get a tan really, she wasn't in the mood to dig anything up, "You can go get it yourself!  It's in my bag if you really want it, you can go get it yourself!"

I sighed loudly to myself and started to rummage in her bag when all of a sudden I heard one of the girls shrieking loudly.

"EW!  Get that thing away from me!"  Merry was up off her towel and jumping around.

"Oh jeez, Merry, it's just an old hermit crab, it's not going to bite you!" Leah just watched the crab carefully go around her.  We were all so used to being around these little weird creatures that walked sideways and had two little beady eyes.  Still, to most of us, they were a little creepy.

I found the nail file and saw that the hermit crab was after the same shiny thing I was after....well, this could prove a challenge.

"Hey Lucie, can I borrow a penny?  I see one in your purse." I said casually as to not to alert my challenger.

"Sure, whatever, can we figure out how to get rid of this little weird crab thing?!?" She was really getting scared too now.

"Merry calm down, would you please? You're scaring poor Lucie and you are five times taller than that crab so think of that, you probably scare it more than it does you!" I was trying to be calm and then I found my two prizes, a nail file and a shiny gold penny.
