I didn't get much sleep last night. When Keith woke me up there wasn't any breakfast made. I could tell he didn't sleep much, if he even slept any. After I got dressed, I ate a few crackers for breakfast. Then Justin and I met up and walked to school. Once we got to school, we walked in and there was five big textbooks on each of our desks. I saw Mrs. Thomas, ... she did not sleep. Next thing I knew the bell rang and she wrote on the chalkboard "Textbook (pages)
Algebra II(117-125)
English II(112-118)
Biology(227-241)
World Civ.(245-250)
Health(review chapter 6)"
I could tell today was going to be a very long day. She saw me looking at her, grabbed the chalk, and wrote in bold capital letters "GET TO WORK!!!". I guess she wrote everything she wanted to say on the chalkboard. But the truth was none of us wanted to speak. The room was like a deep, dark depression with the smell of coal burning to heat the room. Cameron Buckett and Jamie Buckett weren't at school. Their dad is Preacher Buckett or what once was. By recess I had 3 of the textbooks done. I was happy to be able to say that, especially because I was the only one who could. Truthfully though my left hand felt like it was on fire( I am left handed). Know body did much of anything during recess. The boys didn't even get the old basketball out. We all just walked in circles till the bell rang. When we came back in take a wild guess what we had for lunch. If you guessed chicken and biscuits you are high superior intellect. Not really, but still you were right. After lunch I got the last two books done by about 1:30. Then I took a nap, cause I was wore the totally out. When I woke up the end of the day bell rang. Then Justin walked over to my desk. He waited patiently until after I gathered my school books, and asked, "Are you ready?". "As ready as i'll ever be.", I answered so I stood up out of my desk. My legs were asleep and I fell down. Justin helped me up and made sure I was alright. Of course I was, but I had a cut on my leg. Justin flipped out. I told him I was fine, but what good did that do? He walked me home and constantly asked me if I need a break. I asked him, "How old do you think I am?". He gave me a mean look, but didn't answer. I told him that I was sorry, but he don't need to worry about me. I was fine, but he was still mad. When he took me to my door, he didn't say one word and left. I will admit it, I felt kind of bad, but it wasn't my fault. He was really aggravating me. After I walked in the house was a wreck. It looked like a cyclone hit the house. I looked around for Keith, Mom, and Bobby, but they weren't home. When I looked into Keith's room, I saw his photo album lying open on his bed. I walked over, and saw a picture of dad with his arm around Preacher Buckett before he even became a preacher. I knew that that wasn't a good sign, and if mom came home she would flip. I just started cleaning up the train wreck. It took 2 hours, but I got it done. Now for dinner, tonight there was no chicken and biscuits.
