"IT'S SNOWING. GUYS. IT'S LITERALLY SNOWING!!"

zane woke up, opening his eyes and laying there, instead of falling out of his bed like poor lloyd. jay was standing outside of the window, grinning at the white storm outside like only the blue ninja could.

"next time," kai grumbled, shooting jay a look, "you could not unceremoniously wake me up. i need my beauty sleep, you know." jay said nothing, flouncing out of the room, followed by zane.

entering the kitchen, they could see that most of the crew were already up. "i hope everyone will dress warm enough for outdoor activities," he commented absently. "i wouldn't want anyone to get... ice teeth? freeze bite?"

"i think you mean frostbite."

zane turned around to smile at pixal, who had come in behind him. she was holding a platter of hot chocolate, which everyone accepted gratefully. "that's what it was," the ice ninja said. "thank you, pixal."

it puzzled everyone else how they communicated. after spending so much time around kai and skylor, most people associated endearments with relationships. evidently not so with zane and pixal. they never relied on things such as affectionate words or actions to express themselves.

two pieces of a puzzle.

"just checking, everyone's planning to go outside later, right?" nya asked, her blue eyes wide.

"ME!" jay announced loudly.

"not me," master wu informed them. "but today can be a break day. go outside and have fun. just don't bother me."

after breakfast was over and everyone had dressed adequately for the weather, the ninja rushed outside. the wind was freezing, biting at them.

"hey!" nya yelled over the howling. her raven hair was tossed around in the gusts of wind. "i'm going to go sled! who wants to go with me?"

everyone apparently, and they all dispersed, leaving zane and pixal looking bewildered.

"personally," zane commented. "i don't see what's so terribly interesting about sliding down a hill on a piece of wood."

pixal laughed, running off into the blizzard, with zane not too far behind her. the cold was exhilarating as they ran, not entirely sure what they were doing.

the world seemed to slow down to watch them.

who cared if they weren't human?
