Levi POV

The car ride to base was quiet, but not the usual quiet more of a 'i don't know what to say' awkward silence but understandable because there is nothing they could ever say to make me feel any better. We finally pulled up and walked into the noisy building, I had my head hanging low when Erwin walked up to Hange, they started talking, he turned to me and gave me sad smile. I turned away from him and started to head upstairs because I had tear in my eyes.

"Levi?" I turned to the voice and I saw Hange, they pointed to the chair beside them, i sighed and walked to towards them, Erwin, Mikasa and everyone else. I sat down and put my head down on the table, when I felt Hange's hand caressing my back and It just brought back memories of Eren, I started crying causing my body to shake a little. I felt nothing but emptiness.

Hange POV

I was caressing Levi's back when I felt him shaking a little bit, I heard little sniffles and I froze and turned to Erwin and Mikasa and mouthed 'he's crying' they had shocked faces. Erwin motioned his hand up indicating that I should ask the questions. I looked up to the rest of the gang and they nodded, i swallowed and leaned in, with a soft voice I asked him "Levi what's wrong? Does it have something to do with the man from earlier?

It was silent for a while, when Levi lifted up his head and wiped his eyes, he turned to me with the saddest face, in all these years I have known Levi i have never seen him like this, it caused me to tear up and to my shock he put his hand on my cheek and said "there is no reason for you to be sad, I'm fine to some extent. I'll tell you about him, okay?" with a soft voice I said "okay" He dropped his hand and everyone had their attention on him. Levi took a deep breathe and started to tell us about the past 4 years.

Third person POV

Levi began "It started 4 years ago, no one knows this story other than me and this beautiful man named Eren" he took a breathe as he looked at Hange, Erwin and Mikasa who all gave him an encouraging look. "We were like Fire and Ice, he was always exicted and ready to do things all the time and then me who wanted to stay home or at work, never really wanted to do anything. I was walking back into my company and bumped into him" Hange interrupted and said "did you say sorry or did you scoff and walk away like usual" Levi looked a her in shocked as Erwin said "Hange now is not the time to be making jokes" and everyone chuckled. Levi continued "I was about to fall when he caught me by my waist and asked if i was okay-"

Hange squealed and Levi just chuckled at her reaction "I said yes after that day I would look out my building window to see if he would walked by again, when he didn't I started to loose hope that I would see him again, th-" Mikasa interrupted and said "you could've got all of his information if you asked for it" she smiled at me and I said " yeah I know but I didn't want to know everything about him before I met him, i wanted learn more about him by myself and that I did."

Erwin said "contiue" i started to tear up agian but pushed it down immediatly "Then on rainy day, he ran under my building because he didn't have an umbrella with him. I could tell he was soaking wet, so I took my chance and walked down to the entrance with a trenchcoat on my arm. I opened the down and walked behind him, putting the jacket around him, he jumped and looked back, sighed when he realized it was me. I told him to come in, he protested but I grabbed his hand and drug him inside, he kept asking what my boss would say if I brought him in, I ignored him and when I got to my office he froze and said why we infront of your bosses office I chuckled and said I am the boss, I laughed at his expression and pulled him in and that's how it started. We were going amazing for 3 years, he was my light and I needed him."

Mikasa spoke up and sayed "what happened, if it was great why aren't y'all together?" Levi dropped his head and said "I broke it off" it was silent for what felt like years and then Hange says "you idiot, why would you do that?!!" Hange was really mad with Levi in this moment.

he had frozen and then he said "I already knew what his job but one night we were on a date and then it hit me, that I couldn't be with him and do this job and he could never found out what I do. I felt like he already knew what I did for a living but the thought of him getting caught in the cross fire of a battle and dying scared me. I also didn't want him to give up his job, which he loved so much. I couldn't keep up my job and that would draw attention to him, so I left" Levi stopped and waited for a response.

Connie one of his memebers asked "what was his job? and Did you tell him about what you do?" this made a tear fall from Levi's right eye as he said " He works as an assassin mafia hunter and no i didn't tell him about the mafia, but he found out today" Hange says "before we ask how he found out, I wanna know did you give him a reason as to why you walked out?"

Levi froze and said " no I didn't i told him 'i owe you nothing' as I walked out his door. To how he found out I was a Mafia leader, we just fought, when I asked him why, he told me some distrubing things but I asked why he started killing and he replied with 'I owe you nothing' and left." Hange was now extremly pissed at Levi.

they were about to say something when Mikasa said " I don't normally step out of line but you know you're an idiot, it didn't matter if he was an assassin mafia hunter, but what makes me mad was you didn't even try to explain the situation to him, you left him there wondering why he wasn't enough for you or what he did wrong for you to just up and leave him. To him you threw him aside like a bag of trash" Mikasa raised her voice a little, Levi had his head hung low and said "i didn't mean it like that" which made Mikasa say "well he doesn't know that" Erwin interrupted "lets not get mad now what happened, happened and we can't change that, but what I want to know is the other reason he turned to killing, something had to set him off"

Erwin rested his head on his hand, waiting for Levi to speak "he told me right before he left, that when I left him that night, his house robbed and in the mist of the robbery he was taking advantage of and his dog Twilight almost die" with his shaky voice Levi looked up to everyone and saw they had shocked faces, Moblit one of the gang memeber spoke up said "this may sound rude but why would his dog dying push him over the edge?" Levi heard some agree with statement and spoke

"Eren has had Twilight for years, it was gift his parents gave him on his 17th birthday before they passed away in a car accident months after, that dog was his only family" Mikasa speaks up and says "so that's how you recognized him, by the dog, he had with him bc he was wearing a mask"

Levi answered " yeah that's how I found out it was him and now I can't help but think if i hadn't choose this job would he have been better off"

Levi stands up and starts to walk away as he says "now all I feel is emptiness and it's not going away any time soon"

Levi walked up the stairs to his room because he didn't feel like going home. He took off his shoes, belt, jacket and pantes before he climbed into bed. Levi grabbed a pillow and held it close to his body and started crying. All he wanted was Eren right beside him telling him he was okay.
