Chosen Courage

Chapter 7

"Wake up Flamme, I've got good news for you!!" Said the familiar voice of Smear but something was off. He sounded... odd, like he got older somehow. "Oh right, sorry Doctor Herb I keep forgetting he's in a coma. How much longer do you think it'll be before he gets out of it?? I've got some really good news for him when he wakes up."

"It's been about a year already Smear. He's been in the sun all the time being flipped every two hours to give him some vitamins. I don't know how but he also drank some medicine, that will help him. It could be another year until he finally wakes up." He said with a sigh.

A year??! It feels like it's been just one night and why do I feel so energized?? Well I guess I am in the sun getting a nice tan at least.

"Fine I'll just tell him about the good news." He walks to me closer, "Supernova's egg is cracking open slowly. Right now there's a little breathing hole for him." Then he walked slowly away before saying, "I'll be back later on to see if his condition has changed." Then he flew away, leaving me with Herb.

I need to get out of this a coma fully. I need to be there when he comes out. I just have to, but first things first. I have to figure out a way to wake up when Herb's not around that way I can leave.  

"I'll need some more healing herbs for you. I only have a few more left. Umm... I thought I had some more in the other room. I'll go check." He moved to the other room and started searching. I could hear him asking himself where he put the herbs. Then he moved into a farther room, making me believe he was gone. Though, sadly, he wasn't.

I thought this was the perfect time to wake up. I told myself to sit up, and my brain didn't function this. I just stayed still in the position I was. What would make me wake up?? Even if I could figure a way I couldn't wake up myself. Some else has to.

I started to get a tickle in my throat. I needed to cough to get it out. Could I even cough? Answering my question I coughed loud and hard. Two good things came out of this, I didn't have a tickle and I got the attention of Herb. He came storming out.

"Who's there?? Show yourself!" He said from close by. I moved quietly in the direction of the voice.

I tried whispering something before I talked out loud. It came out more as a mumbled jumbo but I could whisper. I cleared my throat more and Herb yelled, "Just show yourself already! No harm will be done to you!"

I couldn't help but laugh as silently as I could at this. But eventually I started getting louder and louder until I was laughing so hard and loud my stomach was hurting, "That was soooo funny!!" I said still laughing hard.

"What the... Salvet Flamme? That was you I herd?" He asked embarrassed, "Why didn't you just say something instead of laugh??"

"I couldn't help it Herb. It was so funny." I said cooling off. "I can't get up, let alone open my eyes. Do you think you could help me?? I need to get out of here. Like fast."

All he said was, "Yep that'll be easy." He flapped his wings and picked me up with his claws.

We flew for a few minutes before we stopped moving.

"What are you doing?" I asked him.

"I've done this with many other drakes before when they were in a coma and are in the same condition as you are." He said avoiding the question completely.

"What are you going to do with me??" I asked nervously.

"Drop you."

"Drop me??!!! Why!!?" I shrieked.

"To awake your body muscle fully Flamme. That's why my boy. Now listen well. When you sense water hold your breath. Good luck." He said before he dropped me.
