WHAT IS there on the other side of the ocean?

They thought there was freedom. From the walls, from the titans, from this cruel world.

"I have to keep moving forward..."

How wrong they were.

"Until my enemies are destroyed."

Eren Jeager. The Attack Titan. The Founding Titan. The Coordinate.

"What are you saying Eren?" Inky hair cascades down her skin, creating soft shadows on her face.

Emilia Klaus. Survey Corps. Captain.

"Nothing."

Eren had become short on words lately. The only time she ever got to hear him was when he whispered this kind of nonsense to himself. His eyes were the hue of spring clover, a color that symbolised life, but they seemed so empty.

WHAT IS there on the other side of the ocean?

She could only say death. Death of Eldians, her people, Eren's people.

"Do we have to go along Yelena's plan?"

Eren put down the rifle in his hands, his gaze following her every move.

"What is the problem with it?"

She closed one eye and squinted the other, aiming the rifle at the glass bottle.

"The rumbling is the problem." The sound of the bottle exploding resounded through the empty field. She huffed, blowing a strand of hair from her face.

"It's the only way we can keep them at bay, you know that."

Setting it aside, she turned to him.

"I don't know anything anymore Eren. What is the point in all this?"

She sat down on a wooden box, her hands supporting her as she leaned back. Eren rose from his kneeling position and approached her until he was inches away from her face.

"Eli, we have to restore Eldia." His hand caressed her delicate skin. He didn't understand what he saw either but he knew, for sure, this was the way things were going to turn out. The rumbling was not going to be stopped.

She didn't reply. Her blue eyes bore into his. He had told her about their unavoidable future, the rumbling, the destruction of the world and the end of the rest of humanity. This wasn't fair at all. How could he tell her he was going to devastate the world and expect her to do nothing about it? She knew, he was using the feelings she had for him to his advantage. She knew, this was all an act: there was life in his eyes only when he talked about Eldia.

Eren needed her by his side for this to succeed. He only felt alive when he thought of their future together in a world where the subjects of Ymir could live freely. He noticed how her eyes refused to meet his, the wind moved her bangs to the side. The scar was still there.

SUCH BRAVE volunteers they were. Betraying Marley just because Zeke Jeager had concocted some secret plan. They seemed to trust him an awful lot.

"Commander."

"Hey, Emilia! I haven't seen you since like forever!" Hanji waved at her over-enthusiastically.

"We just saw each other this morning for breakfast." She sat in front of her with a tray of seafood, that's all she had been eating these days.

"Tch. Eat your food shitty glasses. We have to go."  Levi's scowl couldn't be missed miles away. They had a meeting with those Marleyan engineers who were 'helping' them to build rail roads and the port. Frankly, Levi could not stand being in the same room as them. Their stares held contempt.

"Klaus, aren't you meeting with Yelena today?" Emilia raised her eyebrows. It wasn't like Levi to spark up conversation.

"I am."

The ruckus her comrades were making outside was irking her. Sasha was fawning over Niccolo's cooking, as expected.

"I want you to keep an eye on her. I trust you." Levi was even less fond of Yelena than Emilia if he bothered to go to the extent of appointing someone to watch her. Perhaps he had other matters to tend to.

YELENA could not be trusted, it was obvious. If she could betray her homeland what would it take for her to turn on them? Who could be trusted anymore?

It felt more like a warning than a sign of recognition.

"Yes sir." She did not look up from her food. Hanji's eyes narrowed.

The silence was broken by the sound of Levi's chair scraping against the floor. The female followed soon-after.

SHE could not read Eren. He remained a mystery for her, one she couldn't bring herself to unveil. After all, she understood that it was all going to go his way.
