I crouched down to level myself with the radio on the dining table. "Hey Harry, do you remember that one song we used to listen to?" I peeked my head into the living room to see Ron and Harry talking. "I think it was called Runaway, why d'you ask?" I didn't answer him as I was looking for the song on one of the many cassettes that came with the radio. "Wait.. Found it!"
Runaway By AURORA
I grabbed the tape and popped it into the cassette player. The song started playing after a short while and I instantly let my mind drift away. I stood up and started swaying my hips to the rhythm of the song. I picked up the radio and made my way towards the living room followed by the twins. Percy was talking to Arthur, and Ron and Harry were playing a game of Wizarding Chess when they all turned to the source of the relaxed melody.
"I was listening to the ocean." I set the radio down as I sang out. Harry smiled at me brightly. He always mentioned how he likes it when I sing in front of him. "I saw a face in the sand." I continued singing while walking towards Harry and Ron on the ground. I extended my arms for Harry to grab onto.
"But when I picked it up, then it vanished away from my hand down...." Harry started to spin, and swayed me around. Everyone else in the room sat down and smiled sweetly at me and my brother. Ginny and Molly came out of the kitchen laughing and walked into the living room to see everyone. In the corner of my eye, I saw Percy and Arthur walking up to the two girls and extending their hands out towards them.
Soon enough Percy started spinning Ginny around, while Arthur ballroom danced with Molly in his arms. Ron had come to join Harry and I's dancing, while Fred and George moved their heads side to side in a synchronized manner on the couch.
~Third Person P.O.V.~
For the first time in a while, Aruna felt at home. She felt safe and loved. Harry made sure that she was happy yes, but he could never provide her with the full feeling of a family being together. In the moment that she was in, she finally felt that feeling. While being spun by Harry only for Ron to catch her and spin her back, she felt loved.
The ginger girl was smiling and laughing without having to feel scared that her Uncle would disturb her peace and tell her to keep it down. She was enjoying her time with her brothers and the Weasley family which made anyone feel at home. She was enjoying life and all it had to offer.
~George's P.O.V.~
I watched her get spun between my brother and hers. Her smile never faltered as she got passed between the two boys, each of them taking a small chance to sway her a little before passing her right back to the other. When Harry told us that he had a sister last year, I never expected that she would be like this.
The girl in front of me is just absolutely perfect, and I knew that Fred saw it too. I can guess now that in the future this could definitely cause problems between us and her. But at the moment, I just wanted to soak up the pure feeling that she was radiating. At the moment, I didn't want to worry about much anymore.
~Aruna's P.O.V.~
For once, I felt at peace. I was scared out of my mind that Uncle Vernon would slam open the door screaming at me and Harry to get up, waking me up from this blissful dream. However, that never came. Instead I stayed in this wonderland, dancing my heart out. It was times like this that I wished for.
When growing up, the Dursleys never made any attempts to make us feel welcomed. They treated us as if we weren't even their blood. Getting the news of how our parents really died made me wonder, what did they look like? How were they, and what made them a target for Voldemort? Did he really target them purposely, or was it just some fate that landed them in that situation?
My questions were unanswered, and infinite. But, at the moment, I couldn't seem to think of those questions any longer. It could've been the adrenaline rush from finally getting my letter, or from fully comprehending the fact that I was going to Hogwarts in less than a week. Whatever it was, I was gonna treasure it because I have no idea when I'm ever gonna have this feeling again.
~Time Skip~
When the song ended we all sat on the couch and floor and laughed until there was no tomorrow. Mrs. Weasley was the first one to get up, informing us on how we were going to go to someplace called Diagon Alley tomorrow. Harry had mentioned that it's like a marketplace for wizards.
The thought of it made my mind run miles and miles of wonder. The rest of the day consisted of multiple games of Wizarding Chess, to which I was surprisingly good at, and towers of books read. When I got to properly meet Ginny, me and her hit it off immediately. Being the only girl surrounded by boys really made you appreciate having girl friends.
At one point I took a very needed nap, only to wake up to being drenched in water. I looked up to see Harry and the boys laughing and rolling on the ground. Ginny saw this and she chucked countless numbers of pillows at them, making them retreat and run away. We started planning on how to get them back while walking towards her room where I was told I was gonna be sleeping.
"That would be amazing! It's about time I get them for all the pranks they pulled on me." I laughed at her remark and followed her through the door into her room. It was small, but cosy. There was a single bed in the corner, and next to it laid a multicolored striped rug. On the other corner there was a mattress with my trunk at the end of it. Better than being cramped under the stairs with Harry.
I changed into some clean clothes from my trunk and slipped under the blankets. Ginny went into the bathroom to change and came out in a light purple shirt and dark grey sweats. She slipped into her bed and turned off the lamp that sat on her bedside table.
"Goodnight Aruna."
"Goodnight Ginny."
My new favorite chapter holy step-on-me Merlin. While rewriting this one I was like, "Is this too sentimental?" but then said fuck it and wrote it anyways. This just comes to show that I rarely have any regrets. (Thats a damn lie I'm sorry) Don't forget to vote, comment, and stay MAGICAL babes ☁︎
